I thought so, too. The band sounded like it was drowning out Lindsay.

I only got to see the first five girls go tonight, because I had a meeting. I thougth Lindsey, Jessica and as much as it pains me, Mikalah were all good...Aloha, blech. Celena, boring. I missed Carrie, although I bet she was great, as I thought she was the best girl of the bunch last week.
Guys to go tonight: GOD please let it be constantine and maybe scott or travis
Girls to go tonight: i hope janay, and aloha. I don't like either of them.
p.s. Anthony Federov's parents and family were on Good Day Philadelphia this morning...so sweet! I know he's not even close to the best, but it'd be nice to see a hometown guy make it far!! Just not fall apart like Justin Guarini!!

I noticed that too..so when the judges mentioned Janis Joplin, I was thinking "wha......????"
I apparently never knew Janis Joplin sang this song... so I was confused when the judges were talking about her "making the song hers" b/c I thought it was a really nice rendition of Faith Hill's cover.
She sounded great though, I hope she makes it further into the competition

Re: Carrie and the judges
I'm going to put on my tinfoil hat for this one. Now that I am reading that Carrie sang Faith's version rather than Janis' version, but the judges critiqued her as singing Janis' version... I smell something fishy.
I would think the judges get a list of the songs and original artists. Carrie could have gone through rehearsals with the Faith arrangement all set for her but someone "forgot" to tell the judges that she was singing "Piece of My Heart" written by Janis Joplin, arranged by Faith Hill. I think that last part was somehow nixed from the judges notes. Because the judges seemed clueless.

OK, I'm not even 30 yet and all you folks saying "I didn't even know Janis Joplin sang that song" is making me feel really old! I can't imagine ever equating that song with anyone BUT Janis!!! Maybe I'm not old, maybe it's just my hippie mom's influence!!

I think someone clued in the judges about Carrie & her version of the song.
Paula is on "Good Morning Live" and they are talking about all of yesterday's preformances. They came to Carrie and the show hosts were saying something about Janis Joplin and Paula said "Actually I think that is a Faith Hill version" that she was trying to do.

But what about all of those folks out there that had no clue last night when voting and relied on the judges and their critiques? I hope this doesn't mean that Carrie gets voted off. That would be a damn shame.

I honestly tried to make up for it by voting for Carrie a few times. What is so dumb is if we knew as the audience that she was doing the Faith Hill version, how could the judges not!!!!!

Haha! Oh well. They don't exactly seem like the type of people to listen to country music. Hopefully those in the know voted last night.

I'm only 24 and I've never heard the Faith Hill version so don't feel too bad. This could be because my father would constantly listen to his late 60's/early 70's music when I was little. He still has all his record albums from his college days!

I completely 100% agree with you on this. I would rather see a final of all men than have the weaker women up there boring the hell out of me like they have so far.

Bah!
I really wish Janay got voted off! She always looks confused and uncomfortable on stage, and I'm not a big fan of her singing voice.

I have no problem w/Aloha and Celena being gone before the final 12, but if Janay makes it into the final 12, I will lose complete faith with America. GRRR. IMO, she and Amanda Avila need to go next week.
Oh, and how lame was it that Joe blamed his "lack of exposure" for being voted off? Hello, Joe? Meet Bo Bice. Yeah, we barely saw him before the final 12...in fact until last week, he was just "the other rocker"...now he's leaving people in his dust. It's called being memorable. Sad to see David go--he missed a chance to really shine. Oh well..... Next week, Travis & Constantine bite the dust. (I wish...Connie will probably make it to top 12, and I can't think of another guy I think deserves to be gone).

Overall, I'm fine with the results last night. The only thing is that Janay should definitely have gone home. Maybe next week. Joe was definitely lame with that "I didn't get enough exposure" crap. Melinda Lira pulled the same thing when she got voted off. They need to stop with the excuses and just accept the fact that they are not as good as some of the others. Constantine should go home, but too many teenagers think he's cute for some unknown reason. Because of this, he'll be around longer than he should.
