Oh my goodness! Rick James is dead...He was just on the BET awards. I can't believe that he died! I'm seriously doubting the natural causes thing though.

I'm really sad for him and his loved ones...but unless crack is a natural cause, I don't think there was anything natural about it. He lived fast (sex,drugs, rock and roll and all of that crap) and died young. Such a sad situation..

OMG!!! I AM SHOCKED!! 
I am glad that I taped the BET Awards. That was his last TV appearance. It's sad because he has been getting so much attention that he was making a little bit of a comeback. Damn, this is going to be the hottest topic since Biggie and Tupac. Well, maybe not, but they'll be talking about this for a long time to come....

I JUST left the hair salon where "Ebony Eyes" was playing. I had just told my stylist that I missed the BET awards AGAIN (his performance w/ TM) Tuesday night...Not knowing the man had passed away!

Funk Singer Rick James Dead!!
Funk legend Rick James, best known for the 1981 hit "Super Freak," died Friday, apparently of natural causes, police said. James died at 9:45 a.m. at a residence near Universal City, said Police Department spokeswoman Esther Reyes. "We learned of his death after responding to a radio call," Reyes said. After his big hit, James' fame began to fade as he became embroiled in drugs, legal problems and health issues.James was convicted in 1993 of assaulting two women. The first attack occurred in 1991 when he restrained and burned a young woman with a hot pipe during a cocaine binge at his house in West Hollywood. He was free on bail when the second assault occurred in 1992 in James' hotel room. James was sentenced to more than two years in state prison. In 1997, he released a new album, but a year later he suffered a stroke while performing at Denver's Mammoth Events Center, derailing a comeback tour.
