So sorry for the hijack, but I just saw the House of Brides reference. If you have the option and aren't yet committed to them, you may want to check the Google reviews... I also have several stories from unrelated friends and family who encountered them. (They all were the one on Golf Road if that makes a difference to your situation.)
Love the purple color!!

^^ House of Brides reference.. .?I'm confused! Is that what HoB tells people two? The place that I called that I was referring to is actually a small boutique in Park Ridge.
But the almost dress was from the HoB on Golf, LOL!
It is not likely we will go with that one, we're checking out another place in the 'burbs today.

Oh no, you mentioned HoB earlier in a post, and there are pages upon pages online about the Golf location. I personally know several people who have written letters to the Better Business Bureau. My cousin's wedding got Alfred Angelo dresses prior to this, but here's a fun snapshot for anyone who's curious: http://blog.alfredangelo.com/2011/10...gelo-retailer/

Do you remember Bridesmart (also on Golf Road)? I had to get a dress there a few years back, and before I even got a chance to go there, I came across one of the best yelp reviews of all time.
Sadly, it is now out of business.

^^ OH! Ok I completely forgot I did that.
Very interesting link though, thank you for sharing! Luckily I'm not going there...cause I think I found my dresses!!!
I'm sleeping on it this time just to make sure I still like it in the morning before I post it, lol

OMG I completely forgot to come back and post!
Here's the final pic:
Except in a darker purple.
All the bridesmaids LOVED it (they were making every case as to why I should pick that one, lol) and I'm happy with it because the sweetheart neckline comes up really high, so I think they will still be church appropriate. Here's what they look like in person:
(It's the one on the left obviously, the other two were runner ups)

My typical problem with sweetheart tops is that they're usually inappropriate (IMO) for a church wedding...but I looove that dress! Who designed the dress?

Ah yes, I meant to include that. The dress is by Dessy.

I looked on a couple of different monitors at work, and I think it is more cerulean than teal, with teal being more green than this. I looked at the Dessy site and there are many colors in blue, they could call it oasis, cornflower, ocean blue, or something else entirely.

I'm going to be a groomsmaid (best lady?) in a wedding in April!
The bridesmaids can pick whatever style in a specific color (it's a dark purple), but I get to wear any dress I want...in black. So excited!
I picked out two dresses from J. Crew (silk taffeta, not the cotton taffeta that's pictured above). Because I wasn't sure what size I wear in J.Crew bridal, if I needed alterations, and because my friends who have worn J.Crew bridesmaid dresses mentioned that I should allow for some loosening during the day, I went to the J.Crew bridal boutique for a fitting. Fortunately, the 6 fit off the rack--so no alterations needed!
