National Founder
William Wilson was NOT William L Wilson, but Wiliam S
Wilson. The S was for Salter, his mother's maiden name.
We have tried to get this corrected for years, and HQ does
not seem to get it, and there is a lot of turnover there. The
dau of Bill Wilson put this in the TEKE mag years ago and
I interviewed Bill Wilson's grandson, a frater from Delta Omega
chapter, Western (CO) State, too.
So, national founder, William S Wilson, not William L

Fraternity Name
I thought that the name Tau Kappa Epsilon, was changed to Tau Kappa Epsilon, from Knights of Classic Lore, in 1899....not 1903. Am I wrong?

Re: Fraternity Name
Nope TKE was founded as Knights of Classic Lore in 1899. We became TKE 1903 to look impressive to phi delta theta because in those days the founders wanted to be apart of Greek letter organization. After being turned down a couple times and after the "Opportunity Out of Defeat" speech by Wallace G. McCauley we decided to become a national fraternity of our own. Its all in the TKE guide.
