Oh Luke. I really wanted to like you, but that performance sucked.

Ditto.

Actually, make that 3 Davids. Add Cook to the list.

Generally, I enjoyed the performances tonight (...but maybe that's just because the 80s ROCK!!!). David Cook was my favorite this week; great adaptation!

Fingers crossed that the stripper scandal doesn't affect David Hernandez too much because he's really one of my favorite voices in the competition.

I am hoping that Luke and Jason leave on Thursday. I just don't get why either of them are still around.

Co-co-co-co-cosign!!!! And I'm a fan of all the Davids too. I like Chikeze (sp?) too.

And Senusret, the Hallelujah song is originally by Leonard Cohen, here's the version by Jeff Buckley Simon said is his favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AratTMGrHaQ

Okay, so glad that you said that. Every time that Jason sings, and then the judges pour praise on him, there is this giant question mark just floating over my head. For the life of me I just don't get him.

I liked Luke and Jason tonight. On the other hand, I thought David H. sucked and sang most of his notes off-key. And I think Daniel has terrible stage presence - is he trying to look like a drag queen the way he prances around stage?

Several artists have covered this song, and what I like about it is that the song seems to change slightly from one artist to the next - haunting to sad to hopeful - just based on the emotion expressed when singing it.

Rufus Wainwright (version included on the Shrek soundtrack): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmbQE...eature=related

KD Lang (an unbelievably moving performance IMO): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlXV1...eature=related

John Cale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckbdL...eature=related

Bon Jovi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rlc4...eature=related

Sheryl Crow (fast version): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWDfH...eature=related

Allison Crowe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIMOd...eature=related

Yeah, I agree.

I am liking Brooke White though. And I am with Simon... I really like what she did with that song.

(still envisioning the video every time I hear it.... remembering staying up late to watch Friday Night Videos, since cable and MTV hadn't made it's way to my rural East Texas house by then....)

Ugh...the 80s were such a fun time in music; why did everyone pick such slow, depressing songs.
And I hated Brooke's version of Love Is A Battlefield! That's a kick butt anthem and she made it whiny.

I was hoping for someone to break out the Stevie Nicks or Debbie Gibson. No such luck. Everyone picked terrible songs. I think some of those girls really could've rocked "Let's Hear It For the Boy" or "Flashdance...What a Feeling." And I totally could've seen Amanda doing a great job at Stevie Nick's "Edge of Seventeen."

But, when you think about it, most of the contestants were barely out of diapers by the time the 80's decade came to an end (that's if they were even born during the 80s as there's many who were born in the 90s!). I'm guessing they probably don't realize how fun the music of the 80s was.

I thought those were good cuts tonight, although I liked Aisiah (sp?). I would have been just as happy if she'd stayed in and the blond-Carly-Simonish one went home. I was VERY glad Chikeze stayed in over Danny (is that his name?). I think it's a really good Top 12, overall. I think David Cook is my favorite right now, though I don't really dislike any of them (for the moment ).
