I have fallen out of touch with a friend from high school. She goes to Morehead State in Kentuky. I wonder if she is still in her sorority. Does anybody know anything about recruitment there? Quota? What each sorority got?

All bids issued were accepted.

Did AEPhi not participate in recruitment? Why did they only give out one bid?

I'm certain they "gave out" more bids -- that means only one was accepted.

Yes...all of the PNMs who matched accepted their bids.
Can someone else explain this?? I'm struggling to clarify.

so then wouldn't it mean that AEPhi only gave out one bid?

It usually means that, well, let's say they had 23 at their pref party and quota was 39. They could have pledged 23 if all of those PNMs had accepted a "bid" from them. Instead, only one of the 23 did.
Purely a hypothetical explanation -- I have no idea of the numbers at MIT!

I think the problem here is the word "issued." That's a weird way to put it and sounds more like something conducive to fraternity rush. It's very doubtful in a Panhellenic rush that all bids issued could ever be accepted - because theoretically, the multiple bid lists (which go far over quota) are bids that have been "issued."

OK, I thought maybe I had inadvertently typed something seriously wrong / misleading, but here are a couple of quotes (“Larsson” is the Panhellenic officer) from the article, which you can check out at:
http://www-tech.mit.edu/V127/N36/panhel.html
“Every person who received a bid accepted it, and everyone who completed recruitment received a bid, Larsson said.”
“A total of 312 women registered at the start of recruitment, Larsson said, meaning 149 left recruitment before completing it.”
If GCers determine that what I posted earlier was all effdup, I apologize.

I could be way off, but I read that as AEPhi bid matched with one woman and that bid was issued to her and accepted. I'm sure they had more on their bid list, but unfortunately did not match up.

The University of Houston's bid day is tomorrow and i will try and get all the numbers after Bid Day. It has been an exciting week to say the least.
