Alright, I'm like 6'4" and apparently to some thats freakishly tall. I mean I suppose I can understand things out of peoples control being deal breakers. I don't do big lips, it doesn't happen.

That's our point.

We don't live in la-la-land so someone talking about what "should" is unrealistic and dishonest, in most settings. We all know about "should."

Not true. My parents did not have an issue with the way my siblings and I dressed. We wore the popular 80s and 90s hip hop trends. However, the hookers and thugs themes never resonated with us so we didn't partake in them.

We aren't simply typing about styles of dress and whether people find them pleasing to the eye. It has already been established that we aren't just typing about that. We're typing about the meaning behind looking like a hoodlum and those who confuse that look with being "hip hop." Or whatever excuse otherwise good kids are using these days.

What is unrealistic is believing that you wont be judged based on what you wear. You will. You'll also probably be judged based on your skin color, gender, hair style etc. at some point. It isnt right, but it happens.

We "kids" do wonder why people react to us the way they do because most of you should have been through the same thing. When you were a kid your parents thought the way you dressed was unappealing, but you liked it. Same thing with kids these days. Nothing new under the sun. The weird thing about it is that you cant teach an old dog new tricks, but it seems that some old dogs cant remember the tricks they were taught when they were young. This is why while new dogs are wondering why they're back at the pound old dogs are wondering why they never left.
The issue at hand was this young man that apparently lacked the sense to be both quiet and to use what sense a person should have.

However, IASK, people are judged by the first impressions that they give. It's just a matter of fact. People judge you when you first walk in a door whether it is a conscious or unconsious judgement, it just happens. Most people just either learn to put them aside and deal with the matter at hand or they allow their issues to transfer onto others in a covert or uncoverted manner. It just happens.

As far as the dressing style, when I was growing up, since I went to school in the country for the last 5 years of going to school, the kids dressed in a "country" manner. We went by the school dress codes. We dressed like kids in the late 80s and early 90s. As far as me, I dressed according to what I sewed and my parent was never "upset" or had any "issue" with the way that I dressed. Some would call it conserative and some wouldn't. However, being a big girl, I knew what looked good on me and what didn't, I knew what to sew for myself and what not to sew.

However, the issue is about making that first impression a decent one and not one that would have people wondering "WTF" was going on in their head that morning. And the typical impression of someone wearing a "thuggish" look is that they are a "thug," regardless of if they a brainaic or not.

I like climbing trees, not men (though I've seen a few who were well worth the climb).

STICK-AAAAAAY!

I have always said my ex had "a head like Oscar Proud and teeth like Wolverine." I tried so hard to prove that looks didn't matter to me, but they do. Physical attraction has to be there if it's gonna work for me. If that makes me shallow, then fine. At least I'm not "Mrs. Proud."

-Shorter than me (I'm 5'4", so haven't run into this issue yet) or too tall for me. (Most guys I've dated have been around 6 feet, and they have to stoop to kiss me, so for someone my size it's hard to date someone over 6'1" or 6'2".)
-Obviously makes NO attempt to be healthy. I don't have a supermodel body or washboard abs, but you can tell I work out regularly. I expect the same from a potential boyfriend. They don't need extremely defined muscles or even any very visible ones, they just need to be toned enough to look like they are in fact active.
-Bad hygiene.
-Any guy that is wearing make up or hair gel.
-Skinnier than me.
-Clothing that obviously hasn't been washed.
-Clothing that is thug, and overly label-obsessed wardrobes of any kind. I am also biased against extremely preppy dressers, but will consider it if they are able to branch out at times. I prefer guys that know when they need to look sharp but aren't obsessing over their clothing otherwise.
-Extremely overweight. Harsh, but there has to be physical attraction, let's face it.
-Obviously spray tans.

Bad teeth
Extremely overweight
Dirty nails
Unkempt hair (whatever he is rocking, it needs to be neat.)
Disgusting feet can be a deal breaker.
