Ya know...it never dawned on me that some people might find it surprising that we ARE so involved in all of this. It seems very natural to me.

Maybe it is because all my children were involved in some sort of competitive sport or activities throughout school. I attended all their practices, even some after they started driving! (they would ask me to come)

We also travelled all over the country for competitions, and I never missed one! I have two older children already in college, and we still talk almost every day. Even if it is just a simple txt saying, "this professor is sooo boring!"

Sometimes, like this past week, it might have been easier not to have been so involved in their lives...but I truly wouldn't have it any other way!

Bama Update!

Hey guys, I posted this in the other SEC thread as well...a few more numbers:

Phi Mu got 77 girls
Gamma Phi Beta got only 27 - not sure why this is so low
SDT got 2

Nat'l Panhellenic sent 9 reps and said Alabama has the largest group in the country going through rush. There are so many girls that didn't get bids that they are still trying to match girls up with snap bids.

I thought SDT was not participating in Formal Recruitment this fall at Bama? I might have been told wrong. I know they are renting their house to the Beta's as they build another house....just wondering.

Not sure about SDT. I know they've moved out of their house but I don't see why they wouldn't participate in rush. They are still an active chapter.

I believe it is for size related reasons - it can be hard to rush 100 girls/party when you don't have as many members as some of the other chapters.

Isn't Gamma Phi one of the most "recently established" sororities on campus? From what I've seen and read about traditional SEC campuses, It can be very hard on the "newest" (and not traditionally Southern) organizations to gain ground on a campus where there are such dyed in the wool preconceptions about where PNM's want to be members...(ex. their mother, sister, grandmother were all XYZ's there)

I am very proud of my sisters and all the hard work they put into recruitment this year and I welcome the new members to our Gamma Phi Beta family!!

SDT definately participated in rush at Bama.

My daughter has heard about two girls from our area that did not get bids...so they could still be "snapped"? If they didn't drop out voluntarily?

From what I understand, yes. My source is a active Phi Mu alum from Bama saying that they are currently still matching up snap bids today. Might explain why no results have been published yet - not on UA's website, or the Tuscaloosa News.

If they put SDT on their card (or any others that are eligible for snap) they can.
