Wink Pref Night and Party Ideas

Hey all! I'm from SFSU and I am so proud of our women and all the work we did for rush. I just wanted to know what other Phi Sig chapters did for Pref Night and what kind of themes you had for your parties. If you could send me a messaget hat would be great! Thanks ladies! MUAH! ~Anna ~Anna

this year's theme was FRIENDS
we had a lighted ficia tree entrance with a 'Central Park' sign
then, we had a tent where Pheobe was doing her philanthropy project
we had a history table for Ross, Joey was Social/Awards(it was set up like a script table reading), Chandler was finance, Monica was sisterhood, and Rachel was working Central Perk where we had hot and cold drinks and water
I wanted this theme this year so that we could create a relaxed atmosphere with no yelling and screaming and in their face
We got tons of compliments

our Pref theme is the same black, white, and silver theme
We have round tables covered with white tablecloths
We did fishing line from wall-to-wall from which we hung white lights across
Then, on extra space of fishing line, we hung silver stars
We had mirrors on the table with candles and beta fish in a elegant vase
It looked like a night in Paris(which is probably our theme for next year)

Gamma Gamma is up to 10! If we have 10 in the second half, we'll be close to total!

Gamma Pi (the chapter I advise for) reached their quota of 5 (formal recruitment is in the spring)! I think they are at total, but I really can't remember right now!

Zeta Chi (my chapter) bid 14 new ladies to the chapter. After graduation in May 2003, the chapter was left at 17 sisters...so Zeta Chi did an outstanding job recruiting. And the ladies are quality as well!!!

Congrats to all the chapters with new members and congrats to all the newest members of Phi Sigma Sigma!

Thumbs up pref and bid

Hi ladies,

early yesterday delta epsilon held preference and bid for informal recruitment. 18 women attended pref and were bid! I'm pretty sure all 18 are going to accept and there are an additional 5 that the chapter are going to bid that weren't there!

This is so great! The chapter was back down to 10 members at the start of the year, 2 of which are on chapter status so they aren't around a lot...It'd be great if we could get our National-set total by the end of the semester!!
Pinning is next sunday, so hopefully all those PNMs will be back to become NMs!

FYI - I heard last night that Pi chapter took 8 new women through informal recruitment. Since I graduated I'm a little out of the loop, but I heard that was three more than we needed! I hear they are very cute and sweet, and I will report back when I meet them during Homecoming in two weeks!

I have a problem with the girl that we may possible give a bid to. She went to formal recruitment and got cut from every sorority. Then she went each sororities informal recruitment and got cut again now she's trying to get in our sorority. I don't have a problem with girls who want to join a sorority. I do have a problem with girls trying to be in any sorority they can get in.

I don't know I spoke with other girls in the sorority but I just found out that our president keeps inviting her to our sisterhoods and other events. I really don't like this girl. I hope she doesn't get in.

Should I bring my concerns to our president? Our president is the type of person who will be nice to everybody (which is what everyone is suppose to do), but sometimes I don't think she can see people for who they are.

Imet your archon so i totally can picture this - her being friendly to everyone.
But it seems to me the time to voice your concerns is at bid discussion that you should have weekly. I'm sure there may be other members who feel the same way, so if you speak up they might not be afraid to.
If for some reason you don't have bid discussion, then I think you should take your concerns to the MRC first. I think that's the proper route to take....unfortunately sometimes women we don't like do become sisters and we just have to learn to co-exist....

Tell your Archon how you feel about this girl. Hopefully she'll understand and not invite her back.

It's sad, because this girl is obviously not liked by any of the orgs... But at the same time, maybe after this is all done, she'll take a look at why she wasn't picked. If she really wants to be in a sorority, she can always try again, but maybe this time she'll have a different attitude.

Ok, so on a different topic (my lil tangent)... I was talking with Cara (Glitter650) last night about Pref. Well come to find out, we do things differently. So without going into "too" much detail (or PM me if you do) tell me what do you do at Pref? Anything from decorations to extras that you added to the ceremony (that is not ritual).

Ok, that was all... Just wondering how each chapter does Pref.

Talking

School has finially started... Fall formal is this week, so I will have actual numbers for you sometime soon... But here is the rundown:

NPC has collected over 70 names of interested people and a ton just took flyers. So low end, maybe 40 will go through. Rule of halfs says we get 20. There are 10 active members right now so that is insane!

I will let ya'll know when we pin.

As promised...

So, recuritment didn't go so hot... maybe 40 of the 70 who signed up actually showed up. Then a bunch didn't come to two nights and went on the COB list. Regardless, Beta Omega has 6 new members and a huge wish list. We pin next Sunday!
