249. I love the fact that I had breakfast with my "back" on Saturday. We had a nice time and then went on to Sorority meeting.
250. I love the fact that this is my first Founder's Day Celebration as a Soror.

252. I love that I can look at a woman and tell she's a soror. Last night, I was working out and an older woman walked in. I just had a feeling. I was wearing a Delta shirt (sorors, don't make fun of me please) and she said "hey soror!"
253. I love that sorors can look at ME and tell that I am a soror. One day, I had on a red sweater and this lady asked me "Are you a Delta." Shocked, I replied "Yes! Yes, I am." She said "I could just tell! Hey soror!"
254. I love that we are so visible. I wore my jacket to work and one of my students said "Meez Discreet, you one of them too? Why at every school I've been to it's been teachers that's one of them?" lol

Delta Essence: Soror Etta L. Tucker
Soror Tucker went home to meet our creator on Jan. 5, 2006 after battling with the most crippling oponnent of African American women...Breast Cancer... However, her life stood as a momentous example of what a disease CAN NOT take from you. She was in every aspect ...DELTA! Soror Tucker gave 40 plus years to Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc. and over 20 to the Clay County Alumnae chapter of West Point, MS and never missed an event. Her love for humanity, fellowman and Sorors was impeccable. I met Soror Tucker after having graduated from one of her many alma maters Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS in 2000. That following fall I became a member of Clay County Alumnae and quickly became known as the "Technological Sista" because I was the youngest soror in the Chapter and a native. She and I instantly became close and would often carpool to Clusters and meetings. Her wisdom, chrisma, determination, eloquence, servitude and knowledge is and was priceless. Any soror would marvel in her presence because when you were with her she made you feel as though you were "The Queen". No matter the age, class or any other "isms" when you were with her you were the center of attention. There's none like her! Because of her and the many women of the Clay County Alumnae chapter I became a DELTA! These women were my grade teachers, Delteen leaders, church members...it seemed as if I couldn't escape them. While on my journey to Deltaland it was difficult to decide which to pick in "helping me" cross the sands! I love each of them, like a daughter. I shall miss her encouragement, genuine concern, wisdom and friendship. Too often younger sorors meet at the Clusters, Regional and National Meetings never once finding comradarie among Alumnae or older sorors...I tell you that's where Delta lies in the wisdom of these ladies whom has trodded this journey before us. To my present day sorors, I say..."I would be true...". To my sorors whom shall never pass this way again... I say..."though, I'm far, far from thee, yet my heart will near thee be...
Be with God, Soror Tucker...take your rest...I'll see you in the morning.

256. I absolutely LOVE that I met Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole earlier this evening at an MLK Celebration. I also had the honor of presenting her with a gift from my chapter. She is one of the most gracious people I have ever met and she is also a PHENOMENAL speaker!!! I love that she shouted out Delta during her speech! (can anyone tell that I am on a Delta high right now?.....I'm counting Down 'til Founders Day!!)

257. I love that Proverbs' enthusiasm is contagious. One hour and 40 minutes left for us in CST. BUT since we were founded in EST, I am going to start celebrating on that time.

260. I love that we perform so much service to the community in the area of housing:
- by providing 27 years of housing to Senior citizens at Delta Towers in Washington, DC,
- by providing safe housing for hundred of girls at our Delta Home for Girls,
- by building 22 homes in the United States through Habitat for Humanities,
- by building 40 houses for our African Brothers and Sisters at Delta Gardens in Ghana through Habitat for Humanities International,
- by building three maternity wings at Mary Help of the Sick Mission (formerly Thika Maternity Hospital) in Thika, Kenya,
- by building our Delta Orphanage in South Africa, and
- by providing homeownership opportunities through our first-time home buyers Delta Challenge/Delta Chase Initiative.

262. Soror MulattoGyrl: For your heart that bleeds for the unfortunate and underprivileged. You have a zest for life, sunshiny humor, passion for change, and the words to help me see the other side of the problem. I love you much.
