Yep, the choices are underwhelming.

Not a huge LP buyer here, can you order items made from their print? For example if a chapter wanted to order their print for a pair of shorts for recruitment, could they? I know Vineyard Vines does custom orders.

I'm confused. I thought they were picking three more groups? I might not be a math wiz, but that looks like more than three groups to me...

Yup - they picked 5 groups. The video of the announcement is up on Lilly's FB page.

There's the text of the announcment at
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/2869...rities-won.htm
(The winners are:
- Alpha Xi Delta
- Alpha Omicron Pi
- Phi Mu
- Sigma Kappa
- Pi Beta Phi)
Zowie, I sure like the "four-year vacation" reference to college. Oh yeah:
"We fully believe that college is your first four-year vacation. And we want you to be wearing Lilly the entire time."

I found this comment to be in extremely poor taste.
I'm a longtime Lilly fan, but I'm also tired of the voting and teasing, and agree that a schedule would be best, perhaps like they did the state quarters. Stuff like this only brings out the worst in people, as evidenced through many of the comments, as the "winners" will cheer and then tell the sororities that didn't get a print that it's not a big deal, and the "losers" will either 1) be openly bitter 2) tell the "winners" it's easy for them to say, because they have the print. While I understand the excitement, I don't think comments like these are great PR for anyone involved.
I think it would be nice if Lilly could create a "Panhellenic" print, maybe with Ivy and green designs, for all sorority women to wear. It's not the same as having your own, of course, but I think it could be great PR for Lilly and allow the sorority members "waiting it out" (since, of course, some collegiate women will take this seriously) to have something.
Now, back to important things, like watching the State of the Union....

I would definitely buy a Panhellenic print! I know they created a limited edition print for the Junior League a few years ago, so it could happen.

To be fair, I actually like that the letters/symbols are camouflaged into the pattern. There are 10,000 places you can get a tote or whatever with big ol' greek letters on 'em, but as an alumna I'd like to represent without seeming LOOK AT ME I WAS IN A SORORITY IN COLLEGE AND I NEVER LET GO OF IT!!!! (which, like it or not, is how most of the populace views a non-collegian sporting letters.)
Plus, if you're on the kind of campus that recognizes Lilly, you've got the best PR possible ("Don't you want to join? WE HAVE A LILLY PRINT!"). I wondered if being the only chapter not to have a print on my Lilly-centric campus would hurt us in recruitment, but it doesn't appear to. Although I can guarantee all the other chapters probably mentioned their print at some point during recruitment.
But now we have one, and I'll probably buy a scarf or wristlet, and everybody's happy.
The end.

I agree. I love my colors, and I hope they focus the print on the double blue and gold and the quill, maybe the XI minus the other letters for a more geometric slant, and less on the rose because that is already so common in prints. But if it's a big old I heart A Xi D thing, I probably would feel like a woman who has to tell you she was a cheerleader in the first 5 minutes you know her.
Anyway, yeah us and the others! Now we can wait to see if they're all winners or gacky.

I agree. I always wanted something that was discreet enough that I wasn't shouting about my sorority, but something other greeks would still recognize and potentially ask me about. We've been down the "professional use of your greek affiliation" path several times, and I don't want to go down it again, but for me, personally, in my particular industry, I wouldn't advertise to everyone and sundry that I was wearing sorority jewelry/scarves/whatever. Like, a lot of NPHC groups have stuff in their colors with the founding year.

I just watched the FB video and the gal said they'd announce on FB when they had the prints ready to unveil. Who knows when that will be.
I cringed when the lady doing the announcement said "Alpha Zie Delta". Seriously? If you know ahead of time who you're going to be announcing, have the courtesy to make sure you're pronouncing everyone's names correctly. Sheesh.

I swear i'm not bitter (I can't really afford Lilly right now anyway), but it's just weird to me that they said ZTA was "leading" and then we didn't even get into the top 3/5.

Per the FB comments, it sounds like everyone is eventually going to get a print.

I would think they'd have to make a print for all 26 sororities. Well, not HAVE to, but I think it'd be in Lilly's best interest. I wouldn't want to make thousands of sorority girls mad by not making a print for half (or even just a fraction) of the organizations.
I think them deciding themselves the next group of prints to be made (rather than simply relying on the number of votes) is a good indication that all of the sororities will eventually get one.

Seriously? I'm surprised we made it. AOII IHQ did make a huge effort to get out the vote, but I am really surprised. We'll see what this thing looks like. I was not impressed by the last set.
