Which is why I'll probably never the Georgia, much less the Southeast. I have nothing against folks who live or want to live in the city, that's what they prefer. I just prefer my house, sitting on a good 100-150 acres, and a few good dogs to run every now and again, and a good ol' southern girl to sit and pass the evening by with.
And see that's totally cool.

I don't understand people who live in NYC, but I also couldn't stand to live way out in the country either. I'd probably go crazy in the south. I fit in rather well in the Midwest and loved living in St. Louis for school. For me, it was just the right mix.

To you, the southern plantation (so to speak) is right, for me where I am is right, and for those city folk Chicago, NYC, Atlanta or whatever is right.

That doesn't make one region superior to the other just better for the individual.

My brother is a Phi Gam at Georgia. Georgia's Phi Gam is decent old row, but not all that good. I was looking through his issue of the Phi Gamma Delta and the number one alumn donater to the national fraternity was the Georgia chapter, which donated 250 some thousand dollars. If I'm not mistaken, no chapter was closer than a hundred thousand dollars and the majority of the top five was rounded out by southern chapters.
As for hiding behind it, I obviously wasn't referring to you since you made you chapter and affiliation clear. I was pointing out that we have several new members who are going into threads, putting people down, making claims, adding porno links, etc. without being willing to admit or show their affiliations. While I do not think it is necessary to give first and last names and pin numbers, I do think that people who are so proud of being "fratty" would be willing to state who they are. You have and a couple of others, but there are several who still haven't.

Let us not forget, that when using the term 'fratty', it MUST be replaced with 'douchey'.

Carry on.

You claim that Southern Fraternity members will have better jobs and make more money than members from anywhere else. Prove it. You claim the Southern chapters are better. Using what criteria?
Tradition would be one of my qualities. Class. Old Money. Exclusive. Clearly, one can find this in the Ivy League, Harvard, Yale, and so on, but those are 3 or 4 schools, whereas top fraternities in the South span maybe 10-12 schools at least.

I consider one of the main promises of Southern Fraternities is that it shows off the top class of Southern society, which admittedly was not incredibly rich until the last fifty years. Much like a debutante ball, it shows the old money and class from families which have dominated the Southern states for the last two centuries. True southern fraternities disregard the nouveau-riche as pure trash, because of the flashy and decadent life in which they live.

I'm not sure what you're talking about fratty, isn't that pretty disrespectful to use "frat" in that way?

Are you seriously 25? What chapter are you from again? I don't want your name that would be disrespectful, I just want to see what chapter you came from.

Drole, never did I say they were the largest or most important cities in the country. What I was saying is that you do not really have to expand beyond the south to "develop." I also didn't say that people from the south make more money or get better jobs, that was solely intended for SigmaChi and those of us on here from the South. I don't understand what the problem with regional superiority is. I'm from the South, I love it, so naturally I rank it ahead of other places. I'm a Braves fan, so it wouldnt be natural to go "the yankees are just as good." I'm biased, of course, and I don't see anything wrong with that. The reason we feel greek systems are better in the south is because for what we prefer in a greek system, the South excels at. We have a certain view of what a greek system should be, and the South fulfills that.

Meanwhile you're holding debutante balls? That's not flashy at all....

You have to understand that those who are in the "Old Money" are only really liked by others in the "Old Money"

The rest are either envious -small percentage- or don't give a crap - larger percentage-

You may think that's the other way around, but those of us not involved just don't care. So when you lord it over the rest of us how you're soooooo great and soooo exclusive you just come off as stuck up and pretentious. And yeah, pathetic that you have to remind people how much higher you are than they are.

I'd much prefer you stick to your small groups so you don't go around bothering the rest of the world. I'm not sure how you even manage posting on a message board that's populated by so many people who don't have pedigrees. There may even be people on here who aren't CHRISTIAN.. or are BLACK, or are in INTERRACIAL RELATIONSHIPS! *GASP*

You'd be well served by broadening your world view. It sounds to me like the South is mentally inbreeding.

Old Money = your daddy's, daddy's, daddy either had a cattle ranch in the 1800's, owned a cotton picking plant or struck oil, and YOU are leeching that money off your family.

That is old money. Old money makes me sick. It reminds me of the spoiled brats on Laguna Beach - now I KNOW you watch that.

My fraternity is better than yours. I'm blunt, I'll say it. I don't have to pull 50 posts of why it's better, I'll just tell you.

douchey.net We're all the cool guys hang out.

My sister is having her first baby (he was due to make his grand appearance last Wednesday and hasn't bothered to show up yet), and my mother informed her that she plans to live wherever she lives, except for The South. Of course I immediately looked into the job market in The South so I wouldn't have to live near my mother. However I am the girl who planned a Christmas present gift for the previous boyfriend and the dog to Stuttgart, Arkansas for duck hunting and didn't bat an eye. Sure I'd spend my time lounging in the Peabody and going to the museums but I am not going to complain while in The South. Well except for one particular trip to Florida but that wasn't the fault of the geography or the people.

I know you haven't, there are people on here who have however. It's fine to prefer the south. It's even ok to have regional or local pride. It's just dumb to think it's the some total of all things worthy.

shiner, you're the least of my worries

The people on Laguna Beach aren't old money by any stretch of the imagination. Since when was there old money in California? I'm not leeching off shit. My dad continues to add to the wealth. We try to continue and add to the wealth by working. I will do the same.

Again, what chapter are you from? You seem to be pretty evasive about it. I was open about my own.

Have you ever been to one? They are not flashy by any means, they are classy.

I'm not Christian. Shut the fuck up and stop stereotyping. Drink bleach.

So you picked two lines out of my post to respond to?

I don't drink alcohol so your bleach drink comments fall flat.

My definition of flash includes large expenditures for the only purpose of looking good. Hence debutante balls. I did generalize with the non-Christian comment, but I notice you weren't as shocked by my assumption you wouldn't be ok with interrracial relationships or people of other races than yourself.

You also didn't comment on the fact that the country as a whole cares VERY LITTLE for your "old money" and that we don't want to hear you try to lord it over us all the time.

Way to blow off an actual discussion for a snarky remark.

Doesn't matter which one I'm from. I'm better than you. I have more members in my chapter. We have wealthier alumni. We donate more than you, and are donated to more than you. My house is bigger. My truck is bigger. My girlfriend is hotter than your boyfriend. I'm better than you.
