Seriously, peeps. No one REALLY cares about your stupid rush story.
C'mon.
If you aren't currently about to pledge, pledged more than a year ago, OR you left GC hanging in suspense for YEARS wondering where you went, THEN STOP MAKING THESE INANE DAMN RETRO RUSH STORIES.
Seriously. We don't care.
Signed,
Those of us who really matter.
Edited to add: Yes, I realize GC has some really sad people who care about this shit. They are the "Kitchen" GChatters we try to lock up in the kitchen so no thinks the majority are like them. They are closely related the the "basement" AI people. Stay far from them.

YES!
Double that if your "rush story" smacks of pink sequin tights and having 1285 sororities at an uber-competitive campus, and can't keep your story straight.

Rush stories are my least favourite threads.

I disagree.
Sometimes they're fun to read. I don't read all of them.
Don't read 'em if you don't like 'em.

See, perfect example of a Kitchen GChatter. Thanks!

Thank you.
I rarely read the threads, but even seeing the thread titles pop up annoys me.

I read some and reply to some - merely for entertainment purposes. But if you are going to try and "lock up" the people who read and respond to them, you should also do the same for all the people who post "whats your favorite color" and "I'm getting married so yay for me" threads.

uh oh
I'm swerving into non-NPHC lane when I say that the "what OTHER sorority would you join if/based on...." threads are always pretty silly to me. *ducking for cover*

I generally stay way from the recruitment forums, and I don't have any problem with the retro recruitment threads (wouldn't matter to me if they kept going), but...
Isn't there a big difference between the "I'm getting married" threads and the retro recruitment threads? I mean, not putting down the importance in one's life of joining a fraternity or sorority, but getting married is a huge moment in one's life. I think that's more understandable then going into detail about their recruitment x number of years ago.

Yes, its important to ones life - but is it important to share with everyone on GC? It may not be the best example. Maybe a better example would be "In this Post we Post Too Much Information" (which is a current thread under Chit Chat).
What I'm trying to get at is that at least recruitment stories (and yes they are "stories" because we have so many fakers out there) possibly pertain to Greek Life in some way. There are more than plenty of threads that don't and people don't flip out about them. Most people just choose not to read them.

To me, it makes more sense to share a recruitment story on GREEKchat than to share details of nonGreek-related things like getting married. Greekchat and making announcements to usernames is the last thing on my mind when it comes to marriage and so forth.

Agree. Agree. Agree.
The only exception is for posters that really are great writers and/or there is a point for posting other than the ego of the writer. Two threads come to mind:
curlygirly
20something
Speaking of 20something... please allow me the podium for a moment so that I can get this off my chest:
One thing that annoys me soooo much is the overuse of "brutally honest" in these inane stories. If people would actually go back and read her excellent story then they would realize that most of the "brutal honesty" had to do with her own mistakes, growing as an 18 year old young woman, and other introspection that had to do with *her* and NOT the houses. Yes, she did include some possible dirty rushing, etc, but that thread was not created so that she could bash houses. Ugh at the immature posters who think that using the term "brutally honest" means that it is license to say negative things about the actives and the houses.
/steps off of podium
If posting your story has a point, then do it. If it is entertaining enough to make us laugh, then do it. If you just need attention and to feel important, then move along. We don't care. Each of us already has our own recruitment story so it is not like you are unique.
