I subscribe to that channel. Yeah, I kind of already do that sometimes when company comes over for holidays or for the Super Bowl. They gravitate to my car collection, mainly the Mustang, Corvette, and Duesenberg sections. People tend to know little about classic European cars, so they’re attracted more to what they’re familiar with. Had company over this past Saturday and I talked about my Mustang section. I have an engraved small sign in that section, inside one of the displays that reads “You’ve got to sell it, and it’s your ass if you don’t.” It’s fun explaining the meaning of that. I really enjoy talking about them with people who show interest, curiosity, or ask questions about my collection.

What’s the meaning of the quote?

It’s what Henry Ford II said to Lee Iacocca, if the Mustang didn’t sell. The Mustang was Iacocca’s idea, along with Don Frey.

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Edsel, but that car was a huge failure in the late 50s. It too was a new product at Ford. It was actually a totally different brand. Because the Mustang was a new product during the early 60s, HF2 was on edge because of the (at the time) recent Edsel failure.

I still can’t figure out why he’d think a car that looks like it’s sucking on a lemon would sell.

I love to travel, I like to be out and about and doing fun things. We're supposed to talk this weekend at some point. He has a motorcycle that I know he likes to ride, but he hasn't even posted about that lately.
How often do you talk to him on the phone? I’d just ask him what he likes to do. I swear, the beginning stages of getting to know each other is so awkward at times, so I totally get it, lol. But the good thing is at least he’s not a guy that you just met. You actually dated him at one time. I mean, I know it was in college, but at least you’re not starting from scratch.

WIFLSRN: Portillo’s is by far my favorite place to eat out. We eat out on Fridays and decided to eat there. It’s SO good. Chicago style hot dogs are the best! Chicago style everything food is the best, lol.

Why do you think the beginning stage of dating is awkward? That’s always been the funnest time for me. It’s when I’m in it longer is when things get old and go downhill.

lol
Yes! It’s fun when it’s someone you like being around because they’re fun. And even when you’ve been together a long time, dating that person is still fun because they’re still fun. I don’t think the dating part should ever stop. I mean, I get when kids are involved, but there still are times to date, when time allows.

I’m talking about awkward when it’s a guy that’s trying too hard. Meaning, being too agreeable, knowing he doesn’t agree with me. I dated this guy in college who was like that. We went to Valley Fair for one of our dates, and everyone who knows me, knows I LOVE amusement parks and wild, giant roller coasters. This guy told me he does too, but didn’t get on one roller coaster. Talk about an awkward date. 🫤

It was also a last date with that guy, lol.

We’ve only talked once so far, two weeks ago. We’re going to talk this weekend and I’m going to mention that I’ll be in Saugatuck over Lanor Day weekend.

I just home from a Candlelight Concert featuring the music of Taylor Swift at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. Such a cool experience listening to music I love played by a string quartet. I want go to the one featuring Queen next.

I hate the beginning stages of dating. Having to explain my whole life story to someone and learn his is exhausting. I just want to get the stage where you know each other well, understand each other and can just be comfortable together being yourselves. It’s so draining getting to know someone. First dates are the worst. I really hate them. 99% of the time, they are a disaster.

Lol! So what’d you do, get on the roller coasters without him?

CG, you haven’t mentioned any of your dates before you met Mr. CG. You always are nosey as hell about other folks dates, but you don’t talk about yours. You only posted about when you dated Mr. CG. Tell us about those previous dates before him. They obviously didn’t work out Lol.

Ohhhh, so that’s why you don’t know what he likes to do. You will once you guys start talking more.

That sounds like so much fun. I remember seeing the Masonic Temple but I’ve never been. I feel like I’ve forgotten so much of Michigan and then when we were there on vacation just a few weeks ago, revisiting the places I have been, I felt like I grew up there.

lol
I hear ya! It’s so relaxing when you can be yourself without trying to impress the person you’re dating. Or even worse, if within the first few minutes you know it’s a bad date. That’s like the most uncomfortable feeling ever.

Yes, I did. I talked about some of the major ones. I told you about that guy who wanted to move to East Lansing after I told him I don’t think it’s going to work out. And the football player guy when I was in college, and then the guy I was with my freshman year in college for like a year. The other ones, I mean, those were like guys I went out with where it was a date for them but not for me.

You didn’t mention anything about the dude you were with for a year. What do you mean by it was a date for them, but not for you?

Omg - I told a friend who went to Chicago over the summer to be sure to go to Portillo’s for a Chicago hot dog. She rolled her eyes at me and was almost insulted that I suggested that she eat a hot dog. They are SO good! Thanks for confirming what I thought I knew.

All those Cedar Pointe rides and you get sea sick? This does not compute!
