I hate Christmas music. In middle through HS, I had to play the same stupid Christmas music in the orchestras, bands and church ensembles I was involved with. In HS to Undergrad, I worked a retail job, so I had to listen to that crap all day at work.

It's almost to the point where I don't even like Christmas except for the having finals over with thing. That's pretty nice.

I can't stand the awful stuff that passes for Christmas music that gets played in stores. I also can't stand Christmas carols or songs recorded by popular singers.

I like Christmas music in church or sung by carollers, but that's about it.

This year, we went to 5 concerts put on by 5 different groups our kids are in. I promise you that at every concert, they played "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". Probably the directors heard that Dr. Carnation would be there so they felt that they had to play it.

Dang, I'm pretty sure they played "Sleigh Ride" at 4 of them.

"It's the Most wonderful time of the year"
"Grown up Christmas List"

They play these two songs EVERY year at my church's Christmas play. It's soo boring.

"Grandma got ran over by a reindeer"

And a very annoying version of "Sleigh Ride" is an honorable mention.

Overall, the secular ones tend to get on my nerves much quicker than the religious ones.

Of the religious ones, I do not particularly care for "O Little Town of Bethlehem". Or "It came upon the midnight clear". But they do not irritate me anywhere near as much as some of the secular ones do.

There was a secular one in Spanish that had absolutely nothing to do with anything Christmas, but for some reason was sung in Christmastime. The lyrics involved "give me your hand dove so that I can come to your nest because I hear you are alone and I have come to keep you company". Of course, they have a very perverted double entendre- that the average 8 year old will NOT be able to grasp. I do not care for this song and I am glad I have not heard it in over 13 years. My brother and I would parody it making an ad for a farm store with its melody.

And another relative disliked another song in Spanish featuring "clouds walking in space". But at least that one had religious elements- although they were not exclusive to Christmas.

So even the more religious countries are NOT exempt from annoying secular Christmas songs.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas or whatever the heck it's called is terrible. Also by this time of year I've started hating most Christmas music because I've heard it so much so I've switched over to the Twisted Christmas cds with songs like 12 Pains of Christmas

I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but Bruce Springsteen doing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," has to be the worst ever. That or Stevie Nicks (who I usually adore) doing "Silent Night."

Yes, he sings like he is suffering from terrible constipation.

I'm really sick of hearing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer every time I turn on my radio!

Anything with "a rum-pa-pa-pum" in it--and ditto on the hippopotamus and grandma getting run over by the reindeer---

Oh--and any Christmas "muzak" that you are forced to listen to by department stores that put you on hold during December!! Bah, humbug!

"Christmas Time is Here" from Charlie Brown. OMG! Why would you let a bunch of kids sound so miserable. I can't even listen to what they are saying. It sounds like the most unhappiest song EVER.

Also, there is one song and I don't know the name because I only hear the bass line, but I'm going to find out what it is and make the booth next to us at work stop playing it. ETA: I heard it today in Dillard's and I'm still not quite certain. It is just some random Christmas-esque words over a bass line and music. Stupid.

I also do not like any Spanish version of any well-known English Christmas song.

If anyone else has a big Latin population, you've probably heard this wonderful remix of a song I think it may be called "Con Mi Burrito" about a child taking his donkey to see the newborn baby Jesus with little kids singing. So cute. Grew up with that one even though it took me forever to understand what they were saying.

ETA: How could I forget Christmas Shoes. A) The song is not very catchy and it doesn't rhyme, not that every song has to, but it'd help. B) What kid would buy shoes for their dying mom? They'd probably buy a pretty necklace, earrings, or bracelet. Maybe a scarf. But SHOES? And C) Why are they in a store alone? Where is the father, auntie, cousin, etc?!
Go and be with your mother, that is the best gift, especially if she's going to pass on. It makes me cringe...

"All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey. I hate EVERYTHING that comes out of this woman's mouth already, so you know how much I despise this song.
