So this pin all that time (not forced but recommended of course) amuses me, do the people who do this have requirements of dress while wearing the pin. I know Beta requires to wear a collar with both pledge and member pins. So do have to have them dress up ALL THE TIME?

Can't speak to anything but my the practice of my own Fraternity on this one, but we do not have an attire rule for probationary member pins like we do for the badge. Per our General Regulations for Chapters (Article V):

The probationary member pin shall be worn at all reasonable times (i.e. probationary members shall not be required to wear the pin during sleep, at times when it could cause injury, etc.). It shall be worn on the clothing over the heart and shall be plainly visible. However, the probationary member pin shall not be worn on coat lapels, coats or jackets, collars, or ties.

As for our badge, it is not intended for overt display, but rather is to be worn "nearest the heart." Tradition dictates that [it] is worn on dress shirts, vests, or pullover sweaters. [It] should not be worn on coat lapels, collars, ties, the watch pockets of vests, coat sweaters, or T-shirts.

(I figure the "coat sweater" reference must be left over from four or five decades ago.)
