In my town, gas is 2.43/gal.

I had to fill up in Lexington, KY last Sat. and it was 2.51/gal

My oldest daughter lives in Ft. Lauderdale, it is 2.59 there.

When I bought gas Friday morning it was 2.39. When I got home Friday night, it was up to 2.49. Saturday it was 2.59 and yesterday it was 2.69. Come on now, 30 cents in 48 hours? All at the same station?

This was printed in one of our local papers last week, it's a bit of an eye opener. Gas in this part of the country jumped over a buck a litre for the first time this weekend, which puts it at about $3.25USD a Gallon. It's more expensive is other parts of the country, especially the far north as much as $1.15CDN/L or $3.65US/G

Yeah, our gas went up really fast too. It went from 2.25 a gallon to 2.43.

I filled up our van yesterday and it cost me $38!! I am so glad that my new school I'm teaching at is only 6 miles from the house. We'll be saving a lot more this year than last year on gas, thank goodness.

At $2.95 a gallon, I can't even imagine driving an SUV.

$2.49 Low Grade, $2.59 Mid Grade, $2.69 Premium, and $2.49 for Diesal. That is information as of last night . . . it could've gone up since then and it's only 10:45 am. I say Americans that don't honestly need SUVs (like people in the South that don't have to drive in the snow or those that don't own their own business) get rid of the SUVs. Most of the time, people only get SUVs for the power issue and status symbol the SUVs make. I just find them annoying so I don't find your status any better than mine just because you own an SUV and I don't.

Our newspaper a while back (around the start of the summer) talked about "regular" cars vs. Hybrid cars. The study they did/showed said that hybrid cars aren't actually that cost affective. First of all, they are more expensive to buy. And second, they don't get a lot of miles per gallon (most range from 25-28 mpg). But like...my nissan sentra, gets around 30-33 mpg. When gas is so high, those 2-5 mpg less that you get from a hybrid does make a difference.

I'm not sure where you're getting your mpg for hybrid cars (not hybrid SUVs), but my friend who has the Toyota Prius hybrid car gets 70 mpg, which is double what you'd get with a regular car. The hybrid SUVs get what a typical economy car would get that wasn't hybrid. Perhaps thats where the 25-28 mpg is coming from.

Well, today the price of premium gas broke the $3 barrier here.

The prices went up 15 cents today...this after going up 20 cents a couple days ago. Most places have regular going for about $2.85.

At this rate regular should hit the $3 mark by the weekend...early next week at the latest.

I just got the mpg from the newspaper article. I just remember that they had a bunch of cars in order from which get the least mpg to which get the most....and from that article all the hybrids they showed were pretty much at the bottom of the list (where they listed the cars that get the least mpg.)

Of course my newspaper is notorious for making mistakes, or reporting false information, so your more than likely right!

There is an odd thing about hybrids... Typical cars get better gas mileage on the freeway but with hybrids, it's the other way around. They get better city gas mileage than they do highway. That could make it tough for a newspaper to do comparisons too, unless they print both.

THAT IS THE CAR THAT I AM COVETING! I am dying to get one of those. They have one here in town and I am wanting it so badly. Gas is $2.59 here. My SUV only gets 15 mpg. I really want the Prius' 50-60 mpg (sticker quote).

I was watching one of the news channels this last weekend and they said on there that gas prices are only going to keep going up. But they also said that once the price gets so high that people stop going places, the price will come back down. They stated that it isn't going to change unless we take action, which in this case is stop driving.

I know once I start back to school, instead of driving to class like I did last year I will be walking. I can't afford the gas. Gas prices range from $2.41 to $2.49/gallon here (and that's the cheap stuff).
