Thats crusty they haven't told you guys yet. I was really surprised to be the first one that posted it.
I can't believe they are trying to colonize 3 chapters next year! Don't most chapters restrict it to one chapter a year? I know AOPi declined an invite at another school because of the situation. However, if the regions are spread out, it might not matter and overload the resources.

Is that supposed to be crazy or is it a new synonym? LOL
Right now DDD is scheduled for a colonization of an existing group and two ground up colonizations (one is a recolonization). The schools they're going to are not huge. So it might not be as taxing as it appears, esp for a group like DDD which has ample resources. Now if they were ground up colonizing 3 Big 10 schools, I would say they (or any sorority) were nuts.

Please do not say that Greek Organizations have ample resources. The cost of running Greek Organizatiosn is horrendous.
Going onto to any large Conference type schools can be a money pit as it were. When one looks at certain Schools that have existing Greek Organizations, it can and will cost at Least several millions of dollars.
While I can only speak for LXA and TKE, we both are looking not only at New Schools to gain attention to, we each are trying to also recolonize Chapters that were closed.
Again, it has been said on one of the threads, trying to go on say UG for anyone will be a bed of nails to get recognized and have the Money to do so to try to last for the long hall oc competiting against the existing Groups.

I meant they have ample resources as opposed to some of the smaller NPC groups. None of us ever have enough money of course.

Yup. Tri Delta is colonizing a local at Lake Forest, recolonizing at Butler, and doing a ground-up at Eastern Illinois. I think Lake Forest and Eastern Illinois will be relatively small chapters at relatively small Greek systems, whereas Butler and Elon would be larger. Also, Butler might be a spring colonization, now that I think of it, so there wouldn't be as much conflict there if that's the case.
Most of the times when a sorority launches a new chapter at a BIG school -- I am thinking of the recent colonizations at Florida, UCF, or similar -- they will stick to one or maybe two a year, but at smaller schools I think things are different.

That's news to me and I am on the AOII Extension Committee. You must PM me with your details.
Congrats DDD!
Also congrats to Theta Phi Alpha. They will have 7, yes 7, colonies next school year! Current Colonies - University of Texas Pan American, Saint Leo University and Shippensburg University. Campuses to be colonized in the fall - University of the Incarnate Word, Tusculum College, and Davis and Elkins College. Campus to be colonized in the spring 2005 – Wright State University.

I think Phi Sig is doing two or three smaller chapters next year.. as long as they are smaller campuses I don't see it a problem.

Butler has spring recruitment, but from what I hear they will have COB during the fall and spring semesters. Butler usually has a fairly average sized recruitment (estimated 500 girls), and last year quota was around 45.

Congrats to Theta Phi Alpha. 7 colonies...wow! We have one for next year at FSU, and a fairly new chapter.

That's wonderful news for Theta Phi Alpha!
As far as I know, there aren't any colonizations in the works for us. That doesn't mean they aren't considering any, just that the official word hasn't trickled down to the general members; they may be announcing one at convention this year. We tend to be kind of picky and slow with our new chapters and only have one a year or so. That's what we found works best for us.
