Thou shalt not monopolize the time just so people will remember you. Please don't ask us about a presidential election and who AKA supports!

Thou shalt not linger when it is time for you to go. We do not need to know ALL your personal business. Don't sit by me either...we ain't cool like that.

Thou shalt not ask how much anything costs OR ask where the money goes...the answer is nunya.

Thou shalt not bring your baby to rush and then ask if I can watch her while you turn in your stuff. WTF??? Do I look like Daddy Daycare????

I would like to give PMs to any GLO a little advice:

*when attending a rush, at least know a little general info about the org (I attended a rush where only two PMs could answer questions that came off the national website)

*when asked to answer a question about the org, please dont keep admitting that you don't know anything about the org (how interested can you truly be then)

*bump*

Thou shalt introduce thyself to members at events if you're a serious interest. This goes for collegiate and post-baccalaureate interests. Yes, you're at the event. Yes, you're volunteering to assist. Yes, you're smiling. No, most of us don't have a clue who you are. It is not the job of the one person you knew beforehand to introduce you to everyone. It's time to start networking.

Sort of from the other side

At one rush event for my chapter (in Pittsburgh), the head staff member for Western Pennsylvania showed up and even though he was wearing his brother pin, one of the members of the chapter went up to him and started the spiel on finding out whether he was interested in pledging...

To be fair, the guy was in his early thirties, but looked somewhat younger.

Soooooo,
The game Deal or No Deal was being played. One person at the rush kept yelling...."NO DEAL" to every statement:

She would say, "Lifetime commitiment, huh, NO DEAL!".
"Sisterhood, huh, NO DEAL!". and so on and so forth.
Why did you even bother to come? Then she asked, "Can I take one of these to give to my friend, too?

I don't get it. I guess I would have to know more about the game (the DST version, not the real one.)

The game was set up to have several sorors with brief cases that had several Delta statements in them. The "contestant" soror would choose a briefcase and read the statement inside. After reading the statement, she would ask, "Should I say deal or no deal?". This particular person would yell out "No Deal" everytime.

I personally wore an all black suit with thin stripes that were remaniscent ABC sorority's colors to a rush for XYZ. It was the BEST outfit I had....No one really noticed, but my heart seemed to beat loudly throughout the night.

There was also an older woman that apparently felt comfortable enough to say to a member she met that night "Well, I don't really know any member's of 'ABC', so.......can YOU write me a letter of recommendation?"

Angry

As a rather recognizable face on campus, one particular GDI (freshman) found it necessary to ask ME who the all active and graduate Deltas in the area were so she could make sure she made line that week at formal rush/mandatory informational event. She was oh-so-confident she would become a "Diva" and had all ready sized herself against other interests to predict her place on line.

Can I ask what can you possibly know about Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, inc. if you can't identify any active members on your yard? (High School Seniors & Freshman, please acknowledge your own inexperience this save much time and energy.)
