I'm just going to admit it to myself. I will not begin any diet until the beginning of next quarter.
I wasn't on the Atkin's diet but I did minimize my carb intake. How about school got busy and all nighteers started - so the proper diet flew out the window.
Now Thanksgiving and Xmas are coming up, so I won't even lie to myself. I'll just take a jump rope with me wherever I go and hope staring at it will inspire me to actually jump a few times Hopefully, I'll be soo busy this break, that I get some exercise somehow.

Not Pregnant
*sorry to crash your board, but I thought you might want to hear this.*
Two months ago yesterday, I looked like I was 5 months pregnant... and I'm a guy! That was it. I was up to 216 pounds. I went on the Atkins Diet, and I now weigh 194 pounds.
It hasn't been easy. No one ever told me that eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's and a bag of Terra Blue chips after 10:00 pm 2-3 nights a week would cause me to gain weight. I live in Manhattan and this makes it easier and harder. There are sooooo many good restaurants around. The Mr. Softee ice cream truck is always on the street, as are hot dog vendors, falafel stands, etc. And no more pizza. It wouldn't be a big deal if I was living back in Florida, but the pizza in NYC is really good. And I see people walking on the streets eating slices all the time. No more Cantonese won ton soup with egg noodles; my all time favorite food when done right. You can only get this quality of won ton soup in the US in two cities, NYC and SF. And I live a 10 minute walk from Chinatown.
The up side is that I feel better. Those periods of fatigue that I would get in the late afternoon are gone. I can function better on less sleep if I have to, but I still need my sleep. And best of all, my clothes have begun to fit me properly.
I'm going to bring my weight down, all the way down to my fighting weight of 160 pounds.
The best part of the Atkins Diet is that, at my current rate of weight loss, I'll be able to float in 19 months.

Day two of being back on the wagon, I have had pretty decent low carb items-- however not stringent, more like low carb high fiber whole grain crackers, peanut butter, grilled chicken, tons of veggies, veggie/shrimp stirfry-- I hope this is going okay.

Congratulations to you!!! That's something that you should really be proud of. Please continue to come back to the thread and keep us posted. Personally, I feel like The Atkins Diet is NOT for me. I joined Weight Watchers, and I've been doing well on that. Of course, with WW the weight is not going to come off as quick, but I don't have a problem with that.
Any more success stories?

For Atkins folks:
GNC has a great Atkins store now. THey have a wise variety of items- from candy to muffins, to rolls, to PASTA! I went there and bought a bag of lo-carb pasta. I dont remember the carb content, but a serving has 28g of protein and 8g of fiber!!!!!!
I am making a baked ziti tonight and I won't feel at all guilty about it!
Will let you all know how it tastes.

I saw that! I may have to get one of their gold cards
Let me know how it comes out. My luck with lowcarb pasta hasn't been very good - I can only stomach it if I make mac and cheese (and cheese and cheese) or something similar.
The Atkins lemon poppy seed muffins are yummy
The trick is to make sure the muffins, pasta, candy, etc. are just an occasional treat - and to stay away entirely during induction. Also with the candy, if you eat too much, you may not be leaving the bathroom for a while...

Yes, don't even get me started on the Atkin's (or sugar free reese's in my case) and not being able to stay away from the bahtroom. The tummy cramps are great too.
I normally try to stay away from the fake stuff-- I indulge in the Atkin's bread a bit more then anything else-- but I think keeping it simple is what it's all about.

Good job Honeykiss!!
I gave up on Atkins a long time ago. But this is what I'm doing that you all might find interesting. The entire month of January, I'm fasting for spiritual growth and purification. The fast entails:
When I wake up, I drink water with fresh squeezed lemon in it (no sugar). This is suppose to detox your body and make you regular. Not to be nasty, but a lot of us need to be detoxed.
Eat only fruit until noon
Afterwards, eat sensibly
The only thing I'm drinking is water (no pop, juice, tea, etc.)
NO beef or pork
Excercise 3-4 days a week
What do you think?
Keep us posted, Honeykiss, and good luck!

Bad idea. What you are doing is dangerous.
How exactly does drinking water with lemon making you regular? You could increase your water intake without fasting to the same effect. Lemon is a mild diuretic, but that's about all.
Eating fiber makes you regular, and it ain't found in water or lemons. Fruit is a source of fiber, but it's also high in sugar as well and not the best choice.
You should talk to a doctor before fasting. Reading up on it is not enough. A book can't accurately judge your physical condition the way a physician can. Fasting is NOT natural, your body does NOT like it and it should NOT be done for any real length of time (like a month). Some morbidly obese individuals do benefit from drastic caloric reduction, but ONLY when done under a doctor's supervision.
Granted you are not starving yourself, but what you're doing could be very dangerous, and in the long run isn't a good way to lose weight. You'll lose it from lean muscle tissues by starving yourself and as soon as you go back to a more normal way of eating you'll gain back every single pound plus more.
Atkins is a hard diet, and not for everybody. Seeing as how it didn't work for you your best bet is not to fast, but a simple scaling-down of your diet. Limit your caloric intake (within acceptable levels), choose lean meats, whole grans and veggies, and eat smaller portions of everything. Don't diet, change the way you eat for good, otherwise it will NOT work.
Making drastic eating changes without a great deal of care and research is impossible to maintain and in the long run won't help you.

Hmmm. I do drink tap water with lemon (to kill the taste), but I never though about as a fasting aid.
The last time I fasted, I did "Daniel's Fast" in the Bible which consisted of water and vegetables.
After fasting, I though about continuing to do it, but I would add lean protein and fish to it. Talk about no carbs!
I think you should be ok with what you're doing, especially since you are not doing a COMPLETE fast (no food or water). Honestly, your fast sounds no different from any sensible meal plan.
Breakfast - Fruit
Lunch - Sensible meal
Dinner - Sensible meal
Drink lots of water!!
