An interesting article about the perspective of Matt Paknis, former Penn State coach and victim of sexual abuse:

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/452834...ge_football//*

Quote:
It should be made clear that Paknis did not witness any sexual abuse while at Penn State as a graduate assistant coach in 1987 and 1988, before leaving to pursue a master's degree in architecture at the University of Rhode Island. He did, however, see some things that made him queasy, especially in light of his own background, and especially when it came to Sandusky.

“He was always grabbing the players,” Paknis says. “He would get in their space, lean up right against them. I’d also been taught you don’t touch anyone unless you are teaching a technique. Boundaries were clearly an issue. It made me feel awkward, the way he would grab or pinch them.”

…..

Paknis didn’t think much of the Penn State power structure, or the man at the top, who “wouldn’t give you time of day unless you were on his level, or have any interaction with you without it serving him.” He saw a system that served as a “kingdom,” designed to serve a single person, without checks or balances. He saw a coach who had been able to produce a constructive output on the field, but “underneath, optimized fear.”

And he saw a community that bought so completely into the image that “he does things the right way,” that his way was rarely questioned.

…..

Paknis thinks Paterno knew something earlier even than 1999, when Sandusky resigned, one year after one boy — Victim 6 in the indictment — reported an incident to his mother, and it was investigated by university police and the district attorney.

That’s because Paknis came to this simple conclusion during his two years in Happy Valley, a conclusion that doesn’t change after Paterno aged well past the point of the average working person:

“Joe knows everything.”

Something really rubbed me the wrong way about that article.

I can't vouch for some of these news sources, but:

As a comment on the heftiness or lack thereof on the pension, I'd happily accept $60K annually to retire.

This video interview with Sandusky from 1987 will make you vomit. He discusses how he loves to be around children and how he works to gain their trust. Yes, 1987.

I enjoy being around children. I enjoy their enthusiam. I just have a good time with them.

Vomit, vomit.

Sandusky (I hate his name, btw, as my hometown is shares the same name) is on Rock Center on NBC right now, via phone, being interviewed by Bob Costas. He sounds.... I don't even know how he sounds. Horrible. He keeps explaining things away as being misunderstood. Sorry, but you don't misunderstand sodomizing a 10 year old boy.

Costas just said "Are you sexually attracted to young boys?" And the first thing out of his mouth wasn't a resounding "NO!" but a "Well, I enjoy being around young people......" and then 20 seconds later a "no."

Why would he even give interviews? He just sounds creepy. He needs a new lawyer.

I haven't yet read the grand jury report, and I've been debating for days as to whether or not I should. After hearing people on GC say how awful it was, I think that I don't want to.. ever.

But now that I've started listening to Sandusky talk tonight, I can only imagine how that report reads.. and now I can't stop listening. It's mesmerizing and so incredibly sad.

I so badly want him brought to justice. He needs to be locked up forever.

Has anyone figured out what Sandusky - who is out on bail, but didn't have to forfeit any money - was doing at LaGuardia earlier today?

I used to volunteer at a center for children who were at risk for pedophiles. The only way I could come to grips with some of the amazingly gross stuff I heard was from the Bible: "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." There is no justice on earth that will compare to the wrath of God!

Too bad that millstone can't be hanged about another part of his anatomy.

It's beyond me why his lawyer thought this was a good idea.

17, while illegal in many states ain't pedo territory.

Of course, impregnating your underage client is pretty unethical.
