I just heard the Hippopotamus song for the first time the other day. How did our great Nation let this happen?

It's not even Thanksgiving yet! The mall has had Christmas stuff up since early October. It sure made all the trick-or-treaters look odd.

Oh, and I spent my college Christmas breaks working in the mall, so I can't stand the "Harry Connick Christmas Album"- listen to that for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I normally LOVE all christmas songs, I listen to DC's station that plays all Christmas music from November through January, but I absolutely can't stand the Hippopotomus song either. Especially awful since my real little sisters love it and sing it all the time...

I'm the same way. I don't really like any of the really traditional Christmas songs. The only Christmas songs I like are "Christmas Wrapping" (I looove the 80's), "Jingle Bell Rock" (I like the Rockabilly sound), and the Charlie Brown theme song (I know it's not really a Christmas song, but I always associate it with Christmas).

This is sort-of related, but I have to share. We have an ice cream truck that circles the neighborhood every night, all year long. And every night, without fail, it plays the same 3 Christmas carols. In the middle of summer, fall, whenever, there is always a tinny rendition of "Silent Night" blasting through the neighborhood at 6pm.

FYI, the name of the song is "Linus and Lucy's Theme" or with a "the" somewhere... Just in case you see it on a music box or such.

Just to be anal-retentive (and in case someone is looking for it on a CD or elsewhere), the name is simply "Linus and Lucy."

There are no "Glorias" in "O Come, All Ye Faithful." I imagine you're thinking of "Angels We Have Heard on High."

Did you ever see the Christmas episode of The Vicar of Dibley where dim Alice Tinker was leading the village children in singing that carol? They started the "Glorias" and couldn't stop -- they just kept spiraling down and further down. Very funny -- became an inside joke at my house.

Amen. I can't stand pre-Thanksgiving, pre-Advent Christmas stuff everywhere.

oh yeah...thanks...well no, not thanks, it's stuck in my head now

"O come all ye faithful" is the one that has the "come and adore him, king of angles" as the chorus? that one's not as bad I guess, but still, no one who isn't bing crosby should sing it.
