Samuel Smith's is great...a perfect beer to have while watching a Yankees/Sox game (to stay within the topic). I'll have to try the others though.

Will you be drinking that tonight as Schilling takes the mound?

I will be getting monsterously jacked this evening, in honor of the Schill - ever read the "bear vs. shark" thread on SoSH? His post was hilarious, and thrown into a serious note - something like:

Frankly, I have wonderful, beautiful dreams that include "Replacing Jarret Wright for the Yankees . . . Felix Rodriguez"

I have some leftover Harpoon, so I'll probably be having a couple of those...more or less depending on how the game is going.

I have not read that thread as i have not been over to SoSH in a few weeks. I will go do that today. He's had some awesome posts on that board though. Although I do remember him posting about Arroyo having balls the size of Saturn, or something like that.

Hey did you read Why Not Us? by Leigh Montville? I first heard about the book on SoSH and read it this weekend on the plane. It was pretty good.

For the record, I had a couple of Harpoon IPAs while I watched the Yankees beat Schilling and the Sox last night.

Three of us puked in unison when Schill came out for the 6th - he was on a "80 pitch" program, had 98 after 5 . . . absolutely stunning. Seriously, just terrible.

I was very surprised he came out for the 6th as well. I was happy he did though.

The ovations that Rivera is getting are hilarious. I was cracking up when they gave him the standing O last night.

Still it is only his second game he pitched including spring training time. It was a big improvement from his first game. A couple more games I think and he will be back to normal stamina.

How about Sheffield last night? How insane was that stuff?

The explanation, from the Gary himself - "I got punched in the mouth, I swung back to clear room so I could throw the ball in."

None of that is even close to what I saw on any replay - it'll be interesting to see if he gets any suspension time for this, because he did really hold himself back afterwards. You could definitely see the right fist cocked to go after the dude, then he backs off . . . kudos to that usher kid who lept into the stands, he probably saved the yankees 10 days sans Sheff.

Meanwhile, we get to listen to a couple more days of idiots running at the mouth - Baseball Tonight last night nearly made me gag. My real question is, though, that isn't this sort of behavior supposed to happen while you're still actually taking steroids? He's had to be 'clean' for almost 2 years, I don't get it.

I liked the "I just kept thinking about Ron Artest" comment.

Baseball Tonight has taken a turn for the worse over the last year. It's not nearly as good as it was, even a couple of years ago.

I thought Sheff was going to deck him - all I could think in my head was "roid rage" when it first happened. I'm glad Gary at least held back though; I was expecting the worst. I'd be surprised if he got suspended.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Yankee stadium on the next time around. I'd like to think Yankees fans will restrain themselves, but I'll hold my breath on the first ball that the Yanks hit into the left or right field corner.
