I really need for Don Cheadle and/or Hotel Rwanda to win some awards this year. Granted Ray was a good movie but I think Hotel Rwanda has a socio-political importance that surpasses anything else on the list.

NAACP Puts Musician Prince in Vanguard
Thu Feb 17, 7:29 PM ET Entertainment - Reuters
By Barry A. Jeckell
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Prince will be honored with the NAACP Vanguard Award, to be presented March 19 during the 36th annual NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles.
The award is given to those "whose groundbreaking work increases our understanding and awareness of racial and social issues." It has been presented only twice previously, to filmmakers Stanley Kramer and Steven Spielberg.
Usher leads the field with five NAACP Image Awards nominations, including outstanding male artist and outstanding album for his LaFace set "Confessions." Other multiple nominees include Kanye West, Anthony Hamilton, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah and Prince.
The ceremony at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion will be taped for broadcast March 25 on Fox.

Image award photos...
Mo is beautiful. But when you are a certain size, you don't need to rock overly tight dresses.

I agree. She looks great, but that dress didn't work for her.
I'm glad they had Tye Tribet perform. They did well. I'm sick of seeing Yolanda Adams everyone. She's not the only gospel artist--use someone else. Oprah had a wonderful acceptance speech.

Oprah had a fabulous speech! I love her! She is my mentor in my head.
And my husband Prince set the stage on fire as usual. Uh!

Oprah's speech was sooooo on point.
I'm so glad that Regina King is FINALLY being recognized for her acting. She's been the 2nd fiddle for too long.
I *heart* Barak Obama

Oprah... great speech!
Jamie's acceptance speech was on point as well.
Prince and the crew: YAY!
The gospel performances were great. Yolanda is always on, but she give me goose bumps. No one could have done "What About the Children" better than her.
Yay for Regina!
I lmao @ the chick who played Ray's wife (name escapes me) talked about the NAACP, but her "boo" is non-Af Am.

I am happy for Regina King too, because she has been in the industry for a loooooong time.
I expected her to thank Ms. Marla Gibbs, especially since she was in the audience and 227 really gave Regina her start.
