Trouble in Paradise

hello ladies!

i was hoping to get some insight from you all on a little problem we are facing with an upcoming social.

our social chair wanted to call our holiday social christmakuh- cuz its cute... but a red flag for me immediately went up.

was i wrong to argue in other girl's defense- that this could possibly create some tension? there is a slight rift in our sisterhood between the jewish vs. the nonjewish ladies already- dont you think this would make them more aware of the rift?

i dont know- please help me out with this one. I feel its our duty as executive members to think for our members- and i dont think we carefully considered it before we went for the "cute" and "catchy" idea.... am i wrong?

if i am wrong- i will stop pestering our eboard about it.

I think its (rather OC) yet cute. And a great way to recognize the two predomiant religions. Either that or just do a holiday party. But I think a rift would only be made if you only recognized one of the religions.

I agree with USFSDTAlum that a rift would most likely be made if you only celebrated one of the religions. Personally, I would just have a regular holiday party. With a theme about partying away the winter blues *not that you really have a winter though * or something along those lines for the social's theme.

Gotto agree with the above. I think a party about winter, and parting away the winter blues would be the best. We do Secret Sister, insteads of Secret Santa. Just a thought....

Though we are a historically jewish chapter, do you find making a mandatory hannukah (for pr) appropriate??
I think having the party is fine, but when you make it mandatory, youre crossing certain lines.

As for the Christmukah idea, I think its ok, I wouldnt have a problem with it.

I don't think that GONOLES was trying to make the party mandatory. She was just saying that she was concerned about the name of a social.

eta: that i just reread your post MSUgreek and realized you weren't making the assumption that they were making it mandatory.
