Actually it IS a predictive science.... hence the Behavioral Science Unit the FBI has. And that's what psychology is based on, understanding past behavior, predicting future behavior, and trying to make changes in the patterns that are leading that way.
I have no idea what you're basing this "abuse most often affects the victims not at all" theory on. Officially paging all social workers to this thread.........
