Fleur-de-lis: I'm in Japan!!! What a great way to spend Spring Break Even if I do have to do research and not just pure tourism....

Broken Key: It's 15 hours ahead here from my Valpo time zone... so it's really hard to talk to people back home, heh.

Fleur-de-lis: My fiance rocks so much that on Thursday, his day off (aka his day to sleep in) he actually got up and stayed online from 5am on just to catch me online when I got back from my days excursions (I came online around 6amish his time). Now that's love.

This is a combined Fleur-de-lis and Broken Key--you decide which is good or bad:

My niece was getting married on the 12th, so I flew to Mississippi on the 10th for the wedding festivities. I took my 90-yr.-old aunt (I was named for her) to her hair and nail appt. soon after I arrived.

My aunt was one of the hostesses for the bridesmaid luncheon at one of the antebellum homes in Vicksburg on the 11th. She wore a new pantsuit, and the food was wonderful. My aunt broke her hip a couple of years ago and uses a walker, but she took her time and made it. I took a picture of her and the bride, and someone else took a picture of my family.

When we got home, my aunt was wheezing and out of breath and wound up dying in my arms. She had told my sister (mom of the bride) that if anything happened to her to go on with the wedding and bury her in the dress she was going to wear to the wedding. We honored her wishes--how bittersweet. They put a single white rose on her seat at the wedding.

The wedding was wonderful--she would have loved it. We had the visitation on Mon. and the funeral on Tues. She looked beautiful (she was always dressed to the nines). The picture used for her obituary was the one of her and my niece that I took (my niece was cropped out, of course).

My knee is hurting more than it was, but I will be leaving for PT in a little bit.

It was an emotional up-and-down weekend, but I do feel blessed to be the one with her at the end.

I am also very sorry for your loss. This has been a tough winter for you.

How nice you were able to be with her at the end. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Steph & Kari,

Thanks for the kind words. I still can't believe she is gone, but I am at peace about it. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Loyally,
Lillian

I've had enough Broken Keys recently, so I'm just going to post a Fleur-de-lis:

My son (a junior in HS) made the All-State Math Team! The details are unclear, but it sounds like he will get to go to Penn State in June for the competition regardless of how he is ranked. However, in one section of the letter, it sounds like only 35 of the 60 team members will get to go. I think they expect a lot of conflicts with graduations, work, family vacations, etc.

A few goods and bads:

Broken Key It's the end of the semester and I won't have to go to another CC or chapter meeting until August.
Fleur-de-lis It's the end of the semester and I don't have to go to another CC or chapter meeting until August!

Broken Key It's very difficult to see so many women make the tough decision to leave the chapter and watch their best friends who are still active deal with it.
Golden Key By sticking to our guns and firmly upholding Kappa and chapter rules, the chapter will so much stronger in the coming years, and I'm excited to watch them grow into their strengths.

Fleur-de-lis: Zeta Lambda performed an awesome dance/ cheer routine in last night's Greek Talent Show to DJ $crilla's "Kappa Kappa Gamma" rap (amazing song!!)

Broken Key: We somehow didn't win. Everyone, including other Greeks, still can't figure that one out.

Fleur-de-lis: Kappa still took 3rd place in Greek Week here at W&J

Fleur-de-lis: I got to check out my room in the house for next year... SO EXCITED! They also changed our Key Sis thing around a bit so I get to be a pledge mom (err, Key Sis ) next year as a sophomore instead of as a junior!

Broken key: My pledge twin is transferring to Iowa State's chapter and I'm gonna miss her! And it was the last chapter of the year!!

I'm sorry about losing your pledge twin, but the Iowa State chapter is a wonderful chapter!

I should know, it was my chapter.

Fleur-de-lis: My older son made a 35 on his ACT. He scored 36 in mathematics, reading, and science and a 33 in English, which gives him a composite score of 35.

Broken Key: My younger son has a bad case of poison ivy. It doesn't itch and he hadn't been outside in a way to get it, so we thought it might be a food allergy. He is on a steroid, so I'm sure it will clear up soon.

I just have a bunch of fleur-de-lis today!!

fleur-de-lis to Delta Omicron (Iowa State) for highest GPA in spring 2005 with a 3.21 (tieing with Pi Beta Phi)!

fleur-de-lis to Beta Zeta (Iowa) for improving their GPA .05 from the fall semester to have a 3.04 chapter GPA!!!! (I'm so proud of these girls, they've worked so hard!!)

fleur-de-lis to my awesome AB and all the fabulous updates we're going to do to the Beta Zeta chapter house this summer, including painting all the girls' rooms, buying new computers for the computer room and redoing the TV/Music room. I'm so excited for the girls to come back and see the changes.
