Really? I was thinking of trying it since I've heard awesome things about it, but the only thing that worries me is that it only comes in one "formulation," I guess you'd call it (not 45,000 different ones like the pill), and I'm sure it would end up not being right for me the way my luck goes.

I have another NuvaRing question. How easy is it to get in and out?

I like taking the pill. I've been taking them for about a year now, and I think I've only ever forgotten to take it twice. I recently switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to the OTC Low brand. Mainly because the Low type costs $28 less a month and has less hormones, which I like better anyway.

So I switched from Alleese to Levlen, which is a slightly higher hormone pill. I didn't have a break in my pill coverage (i.e. finished off one pack and went on to the next Rx.)

And now my cycle is all off. I've been having all sorts of symptoms (cramps, zits and surprisingly good blood sugars) but it hasn't come yet and it was supposed to come a few hours ago.

So those of you that switch every so often, how long does it take for your cycle to return to a regular thing? Should I expect a longer delay?

If you didn't miss any days, i don't know why it would go all crazy like that.

I'd say talk to your doctor ASAP. Some change in things is probably okay the first month, and usually go away, but that sounds like a lot is messed up.

As an update to my previous post in this thread, i'm through my first pack of Sprintec and am feeling pretty okay, not moody as much as I was. So hopefully the second pack will be okay and it was just a matter of hormones balancing out.

I guess I should have clarified. This is my first month on the new pill.

It's just that I'm nervous because my cycle has been so clockwork for the past year and I didn't miss a day.

ETA: Nevermind... although I did call my doc. The nurse was saying that if you take more hormones than you are used to, you could just skip the cycle all together. (Or just have something really light.)

I've never heard of completely skipping the cycle so I'm glad that I didn't.

I just hung out with my best friend from high school last night and she said that when she was on Ortho-Tricycline, it messed with her mood so much that she became severely depressed to the point of being suicidal. The doctors could not figure out a physical cause to this until they realized she was on bc (why didn't they ask her what meds she was taking?!?) They took her off and put her on Yasmin and her symptoms cleared up almost immediately.

Another girl we graduated with ended up the same way and the doctors said if she talks about suicide again, they'll have to hospitalize her. My friend asked her if she was on Ortho (again, the doctors DID NOT ask her) and advised her to switch. She talked to her parents about trying a different pill. I'm waiting to hear if it that will fix it.

Extremely. I've been on it more or less since Feb of last year and I've never had a problem

Has anyone ever had their period early while on birth control (about a week)? What could that mean? I'm on Yassmin, but I've never really had any problems with it until now.

I would guess you'd want to talk to your doctor about that - could mean you're not on a high enough dose.

If you're usually good about taking your pill at the same time, but then in the 3rd week took one 4 hours late or something - that can do it too.

I'm not a big fan of Yasmin. Everything was cool up until it threw my period all off (like the problem you're having), and that was aside from the sore boobs and before the heart palpitations started. I never missed a pill, never took it early or late, so my doctor just chalked it up to "one of those things" and switched me. A lot of people love Yasmin, but it just wasn't right for me...you might be one of those people, too.

Question ladies -- I'm on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, and next month it would be preferable if I didn't have a cycle. I've heard of just starting the new pack after the last of the old pack and not taking the placebos, but does that really work? Besides changing my clockwork, are there any other effects?

I've done it before, not with Orthotriccylen, but with my current pill, and there's not a problem with it as long as you don't do it for months upon months from what my DR said.
