It turns out that it was just a stone, and not a cyst. The surgeon told me it was almost the size of an egg! Now I'm just waiting for my incisions to heal and I'll be back to my old self again soon.
How wonderful! You are fortunate to have caught that huge stone. It certainly would have caused more problems!!!

Glad to hear the surgery went well! I had my gallbladder removed last year (at the age of 23), but it was not *too* big of a shock - my mom started having problems with her gallbladder when she was 16 (and they didn't remove it until she was 25! )

I'm glad you're feeling better.
My sister's best friend just had her gallbladder removed after losing about 40 pounds. Apparently weight loss can cause gallbladder problems. She had terrible pains all of a sudden, went to the emergency room, and had surgery. She's recovering now.

That's what happened to me. I'll say it again because I know there are people on this site who are currently losing weight. Gallstones are generally bile salts and cholesterol. The only place cholesterol is found is in animal flesh and fat. When your body breaks down the fat in your body, the processed cholesterol is overwhelming (imagine eating a couple pounds of pure animal fat per week...that's what your body is doing, in effect!) The cholesterol binds with bile salts and creates stones. Just something for all the "losers" (as I lovingly like to call us) out there.

Love having personal experience info on GC! so I kinda know what to expect/look forl

Was referred to a specialist. Had an ultrasound Tuesday and am supposed to go back for an explanation of what was found on Tuesday. When I asked the tech if he could see anything, he thought he saw stones but the dr would know more.

Got a call today from my original dr's office and she confirmed that I had gallstones. When I asked what the normal procedure was she said, removal of gallstones and/or bladder. She asked if I wanted a second a opinion, I said no but I might call back and get another dr's name.

My bro had his out last year and was in a golf tourney a few days later.

I have something planned every weekend in April! Let's check the May schedule, lol.

Okay, I have it scheduled for Monday, July 25th. I'm spendng the night in the hosp even though I don't live that far. I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off.

When my bro had it, he was back to work (he's a dentist) the next day but I've been reading here about taking a week off??

I think I'll hate the diareha (sp) the most!

ETA: Clarification...seems he had his surgery on Friday and went back to the office on Monday but didn't see patients.

Thanks for the advice...may just go ahead and take the other 2 days off unless I am moving downstairs then..I can throw things in a box and have someone else move t.
