I have $6.00 in my wallet and about $20 on my card.

I'm getting a Little Brother this weekend and I need to pay for both my food and stuffs and his food and stuffs, plus the gas our driver spends, plus the tolls we'll be hitting on the way to Location X. Although it's my fault I'm in this sticky situation, it still blows.

Ugh, little brothers. I was in the same situation last semester and you don't want to be the disappointing poor big who doesn't do anything.

I can't wait until I can work next semester so I'm not in such dire straits - I'm pretty sure I only have one dollar and five hundred rubles (about 17 unusable dollars with current exchange rates) in cash at the moment

The worst part that live-in had ordered and just received a Christmas present for me in the mail. I pulled it out of the box, on my way home from work, after being told that I was going from full-time to part-time, he took it and squirreled it away.

I wish I could get him something nice.

My dad is saving me on one front. He called tonight and wanted to know if we had a Wii. I told him yes. He said he wanted to get us a family gift this year and I told him that our main computer in the family room is getting really bad so a computer would be really helpful, a desktop, and we don't need a monitor if it's got a VGA video card. He said he'd get us one. That's one less thing for me to worry about figuring out how I would afford it.

My daughter called tonight from her dad's house. She needs $8 to pay for the solo & ensemble band competition TOMORROW. Pay day is Friday. I have $3 in my wallet and $12 in the bank. The ATM only gives money in $20 increments. How do I come up with $8? I told her to ask her dad and tell him I would pay him back. He had the cash, thank goodness.

Interesting, that my neighborhood, always in a perma-recession, the ATMs dispense in $10s. which is great if you need $10 quick and dont have much more to withdraw. however, unfortunate that the withdrawal fee still applies, and for less $.

im sure this is intentional and kinda meant to prove a point (1. go to your own bank to take money out and 2. have enough money that you can afford to withdraw more than $10 at a time) but it sucks for the poor folk.

Yeah, there is one at work that allows you to withdraw $10, but they charge a $3 fee. I spent $1 too much on groceries... what a pain in the butt this all is! Payday cannot be here soon enough.

I checked my account earlier this week and found that I had 20.88 to my name...which means that I had spent over 100.00 in a week on God knows what. Good thing I checked because it'll cost me 20.00 round trip to see my boyfriend this weekend. Hopefully my direct deposit will go through, and I don't have to wait until Monday to get paid from my semi-crummy job.

I am deceptively poor, because although I have plenty of money in my account, it is ALL from student loans. I can barely stand to buy groceries, because I immediately start calculating the god-awful interest that I will pay on it in the long run. It's bad enough that my tuition alone is going to rack up ~140K in debt, forget living expenses. I HATE having to depend solely on loans!

Here's a cheap recipe for the financially disadvantaged:

Elbow macaroni
1 can Tomato soup (condensed)
Bacon

Cook the bacon and the noodles then stir it all together! We already had frozen bacon, but my sis and I bought macaroni and soup for $2.70. Yippee! Make sure you don't use too many noodles or it won't be flavorful enough.

My kitchen consists of nothing but pasta and rice. I've learned you can do amazing things with rice

Oh yeah, I made some strange fried rice-ish last year while waiting for my allowance. Ha! It was like frozen veggies, rice, and some random oil from my cabinet. Would've been good if I had an egg, too.

Ish? Lol! I say that all the time

I've started throwing all kinds of stuff in the pot with the rice. My chicken and rice dinners only use one pot. Makes clean up easy peasy

i just made a chicken-and-rice in a pot combo last night. i bought some drumsticks, boiled it in some water with bouillon cubes, poured a package of yellow rice and an old can of string beans (yes, that last can in everyone's cupboard for when times get rough, just in case) and let it simmer.

i lucked out because i found a couple potatoes in the crisper drawer. dont know how long ive had them, but it tasted great with everything else.

its lasted me 3 meals. ill probably finish off the pot by friday. it couldve been 6 meals - i need to learn portion control.
