One of the seniors in my house had that happen my freshman year. His car just crapped out on him, but luckily he really didn't need a car during school, and it was in the spring quarter. he had a job offer, so he went and bought a new car. A few guys bought his old pontiac and went to town on it with a pickaxe. They cut the top off, busted all the wondows, took the trunk off, then we had a campus cruiser (it would go, but only about 20 mph). Shortly after doing this, they realized the problem, the catalytic converter was plugged up. that was it! anyway, the deed was done, so one guy proceeded to drive the car forward at about 30 mph, then slam it into reverse, get going about 20, then slam it forward and repeat. He kept doing this until a gear blew out of the side of the transmission. it was a good time!
