A set of kitchen spoons. It was my birthday gift from my boyfriend (my first birthday that we celebrated together). I was so upset (for some odd reason--I don't know what I expected.) However, I am very particular about what I buy people for gifts and I put a lot of time into the process. I thought he had just run out and bought something without putting any effort into it. It turns out he thought he had been especially thoughful--I had mentioned that I needed kitchen utensils while we were in Target a month earlier.

Well, I still have them, and I use them everyday. I guess it wasn't such a bad gift after all. And his gift-selecting skill have improved greatly over the years.

I dunno, I think it be fun to get a Chia Pet for Christmas. Maybe I'm just quirky like that.

That's a very nice gift. Bookstores always sell magazines and stationary even if you don't read books.

My worst gift was given to me by my Dad. He gave me the movie "True Lies" for Christmas. It's a great film, but I had never seen it. He got it for me so he could watch it!

Ohhhhh....Mr Sageofages does that so frequently, that I just say "I hope you enjoy your movie". Even our sons realize he is doing that, when he does it.

Just burns me up....

I used to do this TO my dad.

My father is very much the type who, if he needs something, he goes out and buys it for himself. He's next to impossible to shop for. When you do buy him something, he never uses/wears it (seriously, the man has a walk-in closet full of shirts that my brothers and I have bought him that still have tags on them). In college, when my money was tight, I started buying him things I would like, too. "Gee, dad, you don't like those Nike running pants? Let me take them off your hands." He finally caught on the year he got a pink sweater from J.Crew for Christmas

This reminds me....One year my dad gave my mom a golf net for the back yard. She didn't play golf. He apologized and said that he would get her something else. Next she got a leaf blower. Mom doesn't do outside chores. So finally he got her a new camera but decided that he would let the other gifts go to waste.

From one of my favorite movies:

A gunrack? I don't even own a gun, let alone many which would necessitate the need for a gunrack.

My uncle used to buy me god awful clothing. T-shirts with prints that were just horrible or that sweatshirt that was 4 sizes too large (I often suspect I was regifted that - it was my uncle's size).

Stolen CD's. Not shoplifted, just stolen out of some else's car. From a boyfriend. For Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa.

HAHAHA - one of my friends received a Chia Pet one Christmas from her mother-in-law. She said "I knew she hated me, but I never knew how much!"
I once got a cheap-o toy frog from a teacher at school ( we drew names) and everyone in the school knew how much I hate frogs!

Religious videos( birthday present) from my grandparents....I think they were still hoping I'd be a nun or something.

At one of my bridal showers, my husband's relatives( his aunt and uncle I think) who lived out of state sent us some awful, scratchy, ugly sheets sets. What made them really awful though, was the fact that said relatives own a furniature store, and these sheets were the kind that they use on display on the beds in the store. My husband was so mad.

Mr. JennRN's worst gift was also from the above mentioned relatives. One year for Xmas they gave him luggage locks, and coasters with kittens and flowers on them. He was 26.
