Sadly, I am now beginning to think poorly of those posters as people. They're people I don't really want to talk to on GC. I just feel like they're not very nice and, if I tried to join in on a conversation, I'd probably get ignored or pushed around because I'm not in their "cool group".

Is it just me who notices this? Clearly not.

I guess these people don't realize how bad they look to others. Maybe they don't care. Normally I would just try and ignore them, but it's kind of hard to when these people are barging in on threads and starting stuff seemingly at random.

I'm not going to call anyone out. I just want people to seriously set their pride aside for a few seconds and actually consider their behaviour in recent times. Have you made a "joke" about someone lately which you knew deep down was meant to mock them in public? Have you intentionally disrupted threads just because you wanted to frustrate someone you don't like? Have you defended your friends' behaviour even though maybe they had crossed the line?

I echo the other people who have posted asking the members of the GC community to be wiser about their postings. We don't have to like everyone on here, but skewering people a la junior high school just isn't cool.

I think the fact that the thread keeps going over and over the same few points is getting ridiculous. Ivory took me up on my invitation to be PM-ed and we are working out any issues we may have there. If you have any issues with me, you can do the same. I would prefer to let this thread die off because it's not getting anything accomplished. The references to alcohol and Blaine were not "unrelated" -- they were brought up by other posters earlier and are just as much a part of this thread as the complaints, which, as pointed out, are finally being dealt with in an appropriate manner (PM, directly to the people they are aimed at). I was trying to get back to the attempts at a truce (winneythepooh and her alcohol, DGqueen's EE/H&A team-up) rather than keep airing old isht on the board and causing more drama. If you feel like trying to keep the peace instead of flaming the drama is "rude," then that's fine with me.

If the "gang" jumps all over you, that is their choice, not mine.

I don't clearly remember the incident where somebody supposedly jumped on someone for their looks, but from what I can recall it was one poster and not an entire gang. I know for a fact that I did not get involved because I didn't feel like the poster in question was particularly unattractive, so I'm not going to comment further.

And I fail to see how one person calling someone ugly versus five people calling someone ugly is any different -- either way it's rude. It's just a different amount of people being rude.

I think thats what you and ZTangel are talking about.

What you say about 5 people being mean being the same as 1 person being mean is not true.

Especially if those 5 people are in a recognizable group.

If Amy comes on Gc and is mean a few times, no one is going to pay much attenton.

If Amy is mean several times a day, people will start noticing.

If Amy forms the Amy Liberatation Front with 10 of her friends, and her and 5 others frequently post mean stuff on any given that thread . . . that becomes GLARINGLY obvious.

The harem was formed, but for whatever reason a large number of people on GC now associate the Harem and Associates as a group that often makes mean posts and personal attacks.

So even the members of the harem that might do this the very least, are still painted with the same brush.

Wow. I hadn't read this thread before because I assumed it was some sort of what chapter/what school/etc are you and I find those boring, so I ignore them. Looks like I'm coming late to the party, but fine, lets get it out in the open.

I'm tired of being mocked for:
-my choice of religion
-my wedding

Why haven't I posted about it before? Because, as many others have alluded to, I have a life outside the internet, and while reading posts may bother me for a moment, at the end of the day I have moved on and chosen to take their content as a reflection on the poster's maturity and class, rather than on myself. Heck, half the time I just laugh at them myself because they're true... like the posts about how many hors d'oeurves, etc. I can always turn off the computer and go on with my life if something upsets me too terribly, and that's what I choose to do.

I agree with what many people said in this thread.... in my 4 years on Greekchat (I started as Dewgirl) I have never seen GC this "angsty", and I'm tired of it. I think it's unfortunate that people are being "run off" GC because a few people decide to make them a target. Personally, I think that only adds fuel to the fire and fully intend to stay around, whether I'm being made fun of or not.

So, take from that what you will. You wanted it out in the open (AXJules, I'm not referring exclusively to you, but to the general posting public).... I've had my say.
