Pardon the crash, but I know a few Tri Deltas and wish to say congratulations!

A question that maybe someone can answer. My MIL says she was a Tri Delt back in the 60's at Hardin Simmons University in Texas, but I can't find any record of that chapter. I don't want to really overly question this and appear rude but I can't find record of a chapter there. Anyone have any informaton?

I just pulled my Tri Delta Centennial History off the shelf. There is no Hardin Simmons University listed as ever having had a chapter. Maybe it was a local?

I also just pulled down my Bairds from 1991. There was a Phi Mu chapter there from 1907-11, but no other NPC groups are listed. The rest are honors, service and recognition. No Tri Delta in any form.

Pardon my crash, but was there another college near there with a Tri Delta chapter? Things were a little looser back then, maybe she went to H-S and pledged a chapter at another school.

Hardin-Simmons has never had nationals, only locals. There was a local group called "Delta" that was active during that period. As is often the case, maybe they were Tri-Delt "wanna bes" and copied some of their traditions from the national organization.

Phi Mu was there briefly from 1907-1911.

Double check, but I think Phi Mu had a chapter at a Hardin College that was in Missouri and closed during the 1930s.

My 1991 Baird's specifically says Hardin-Simmons, but I will say Baird's is certainly not error-free. I'll keep checking!

Thank you ladies for your research. I know that she genuinely thinks she is a tri delt, but I assume it was that delta chapter that was forementioned. I will just discreetly avoid talking with her further about it and definitely wont be putting it on my daughter's resume' for next fall.
