I love these makeover shows. I thought they both improved tremendously, but I thought Kelly was too whiny. Rachel worked harder at it and she deserved to win. Amazing what a little surgery can do.....

OK, I watched this off and on-flipping channels.

TheEpitome1920-Watching. Am I the only person who was like by the fact that they were calling these women ugly ducklings? But it seems that tv is fascinated by making "ugly" people over.

Doesn't it strike anyone that this is really tragic? For all the "inner beauty" we try to get people to acknowledge here comes this show. I would have praised it if they took women who were disfigured by a tragedy or birth defect and gave them
a new face or something. Neither girl was an ugly duckling on the surface. They were girls without confidence and therefore they didn't care enough to pull themselves together.

She looked sad the whole time. Even when she looked in the mirror she looked sad. I thought she didn't turn out the way she expected to. I so was not feeling the blonde hair on her either.

Totally agree with both statements.
Bringing in the BF after the transformation kind of made me sick to my stomach. Oh, so NOW he thinks she's beautiful. He probably couldn't wait to get her home in the sack-that's going to be real good for her self confidence.
I don't think I'll watch this again...too, TOO sad and a lesson in utter humiliation.

I hear that three of these girls are from various parts of Denver. Then that dumb girl from "My big fat obnoxious fiance" was from Denver too. Hmm.

I watched it, and I was mad at myself for doing so.

Kelly has major self-esteem issues, and she is way too emotional. The blonde hair wasn't working for her, and the boob job was a little excessive.

Rachel obviously worked harder at the transformation, and has a more positive personality despite the fact that her husband sucks... but I thought she looked like a she-man after the transformation.

BTW, who else thinks that Rachel's husband is definitely cheating on her?

SSS1365,
I think Rachel's husband is cheating on her too!

On another note, Kelly is from my hometown. I don't know her, but it was cool to learn that she's from where I grew up. (I'm talking a real small town, not Baltimore.) And yes, she looked so sad the entire time. Kelly was pretty from the start...she just needed to clear up her face and get veeners on her teeth. It's sad what TV has turned into.

You're not the only one!

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I watched this show. Before I saw it, I thought it was just going to reinforce the idea that even though society harps on "inner beauty" and all, you still have to have outer beauty to complement it. Well, after watching, I have to say I was wrong. To my surprise, I found that this show sends the idea that to look beautiful, you must look like a drag queen. Or a stripper. Take your pick.

I watched part of it.

I kept thinking about those rumors about how NPC sororities haze their pledges by circling their fat... these chicks just had their fat circled on national TV!!

One good message came out of this show: If you're willing to work for it, you can accomplish your goal. Both these women spent a lot of time in the gym to firm up, followed strict diets, went through therapy, etc.

On the other hand, you shouldn't need a boob job to feel good about yourself.

I haven't watched reality tv in so long.

The Swan is like a car wreak. You know you should stare, but you can't turn away.

I thought Kelly was very pretty to. Her whining got on my nerves. I wasn't feeling her blonde her either. To me she looked like Princess Fiona after Shrek kissed her for the first time

JAM I totally agree. I watched Extreme Makeover for 20 minutes and I had to turn it off because I wanted to cry. The one woman had really pretty eyes and nice hair - all she needed was more flattering clothes, a different hairstyle and makeup to hide the flaws (I have drawers full, she can even come use mine). It made me so sad that she didn't have any friends that cared enough to help her out and get her to go for a makeover with them or something, even if they didn't need it. Or that she couldn't find that in herself. I went through an ugly duckling phase, but even at my lowest I didn't want to look like a different person, I just wanted other people to think I was pretty the way I was.

These women don't need plastic surgery, they need a support system. OMG - I sound like Delilah After Dark - someone slap me!

And my little's ex has hairless cats and yes, they are quite fugly.
