Red face Kappa Songbook

As of 4/28/01, there is a Kappa Songbook from 1916 listed on Ebay. The listing has pictures of the book, including a photo containing the lyrics to a song that I believe is part of ritual! This causes me a little concern, as our ritual is unique to us as Kappa sisters and should not be for sale. I'm not quite sure what to do about this. Any suggestions?

Cool

Hi UFKKG--

Thanks for keeping an eye out on the KKG stuff on Ebay!

The current high bidder on the Song Book (kappanole) is a KKG who works with me (and other Kappas) to keep KKG items that come up for sale on ebay "in the family."

"Kappa All Hail To Thee" is not a "secret" song, even though I can see why you might think it would be secret...

So don't worry...even if we can't afford to keep this book in the family (you never know how high things will go on ebay), know that no "secrets" will be going to a non-sister.

Thanks again for your concern! It's so great to meet other Kappas who are looking out for our ritual!!!

Loyally,
Kristen

Talking

What I'm wondering about ebay is who exactly is selling this stuff? You'd think any Kappa would have enough respect for the organization not to engage in this behavior. But even if it's not a Kappa selling the book, a Kappa had to get it to them somehow. It's just unfortunate that there's nothing we can do to stop ebay sales of fraternity/sorority items. In the meantime, I think it's great that people ensure that this stuff falls into the right hands!

Girls, check out some of the rare book sites to find good deals on KKG songbooks and histories. I got a songbook for $14 after I was outbid on that ebay songbook. Fortunately, it did go to a KKG from NDSU (a now defunct chapter). I email anyone who is bidding on kappa stuff to see who they are...I won't bid against a sister. I also email the sellers to see if they'll sell stuff to us outright..usually they won't, but it's worth a shot!! I've NEVER seen a KKG selling our things on line...thank goodness!
