KD Convention
Hello Ladies!
I wanted to give you an update on our last Convention. I cannot remember EVERYTHING,nor would you want me to list all that, but I will do my best to keep it interesting!
First of all, save up money NOW to go in 2003! It will be in Arizona! I had such a great time that I hope to go to EVERY Convention.
Kappa Delta, again, amazed me with all the new and inovative ideas. We have started a new program called PACE. It is about Personal apperance, attitude....basically, how to be a KD lady for life! It will be great to use for New Members and such.
We also had a pig parade of all the pigs that were passed around in all our chapter meetings to collect Foundation Money. They were all VERY cute, I think AE's was the best, it was a ladybug!
The foundation hosted a dinner and auctioned off many awesome KD items, including Jewlery and a beautiful hand made quilt by Jean Grader(CPP Delta East).
One night SAE came to dinner with us, they had their Convention in Florida as well. CUTE boys...lots of them!
We all got cute pink straw bags with KD on them, cute picture frames, and lots of other cool KD things. Also had the new and improved KD boutique, had lots of neat KD stuff, from magnets to rhinestone tees!
The coolest thing I think is our new book. Do you know the Girlfriends collection? Well, the authors and KD have our own addition. It is for National Women's Frindship Day, it even has our Crest on the spine! How awsome are we!
It was so nice to be able to meet and greet so any KDs! I thought it was going to be good, but had no idea it was going to turn out that good. We had a parade of all the chapter flags, including all our new chapters....like my chapter Gamma Sigma...we were all crying!!!! And even had a memorial service which was so sad but great to see how much KD meant to many wonderful KDs! It was also very nice to see KDs that have been to 15+ Conventions, we even had on KD from overseas come...41 hours on a plane, I thought my 10 hour car ride was a lot...not so much!
If your chapter or alum association needed help, we had ANY type of workshop you could imagine...it was VERY MUCH a learning experience!
National Council was the best. They are the most down to earth women in the world! I always thoght National Council would be uptight, but these women have great personalities, are beautiful, and are not afraid to laugh! Don't even get me started abour Julie Johnson, I don't know how I lived for 22 years without knowing her! It is so nice to see that KD means so much to them as alum, they dedicate 100% to KD! Not to mention all the behind the scene workers like HQ staff and pages!(we also had a DAILY newsletter...the Katydid)
Kappa Delta is the best, what other group has such great programming and inovative ideas...No One! Convention made me realize just how proud and honored I am to be a KD!
