Is Mama's Gun the one with the song "Danger"? If it is, I like that CD. It is not Baduizm which is one of my favorite cd's but I still like it. It is definitely better than the previous album she put out. I can't think of the name of it. That one was garbage.

now THIS is the ish I listen to!
This right cherre is the type of stuff I LOVE....mash-ups:
This Way, Girls (Dilated Peoples "This Way" vs TLC "Girl Talk")
(It's an MP3 file)
And no, that's not men singing...that is TLC played at an extremely low pitch!

Jill Scott comes out in August. I think the 31st, not the 21st.

Ditto. I am expecting MUCH greater things than what I heard. I liked the lyrics to the first song better, but the music of the second one better.

AMERIE has a song out on the radio here in DC. Haven't heard it yet though. She is definitely supposed to be coming out with an album, though, some time this year.

She left The Center to film a role in "The First Daughter" (an upcoming film un which she plays the roommate of the President's daughter. Right after that, she went back in he studio to work on the upcoming album.

Teena Marie's New CD
I asked this question over in the Delta Forum because I did not realize the music thread was over here. Has anyone listened to Teena Marie's new CD and if so what did you think. Some of my co-workers and I have a friendly disagreement about whether or not this new CD is as good as her older music. I am a little biased so I need some outside input.

I don't even have Teena Marie's album.
But I also wasn't feeling the Jill Scott cuts. Maybe those are the not so good songs.
Mario Winans' album has me HOOKED. I can't get past track #4. Anybody else feelin' him like me?

I love Teena Marie, and yes I have her new CD. I have only listened to the first 2 cuts, but they are very good.

It made it to the top 10 this week. It's number 6. I think that's impressive to say the least. I believe most of the top 10 is made up of rappers/hip-hop artists.

I am so glad to hear that her CD is doing well. It is good to have an artist of Teena Marie's caliber back in the spotlight. I have to be honest though, I would have liked to have seen someone like a Babyface, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis or even Prince produce this album for her. Other than the first 2 tracks on the CD, I do not feel that the producers from that Cash Money Crew did Lady Tee's talents the justice they deserve. To me Teena Marie is on a totally different level. I know I am going to catch some flack by saying this, but if you took away the “studio airbrush” from most of these new musical divas on the scene, and evaluated them on just straight SINGING talent alone, Teena Marie would leave all of their behinds in the dust.
