But everyone calls me Keisha, and it's in every down south rap song ever, or so it seems.

Hi, My name is.............
Ranando (Ruh-Nan-Do) Kinda like banana
I HATE it when my name is misspelled or mispronounced. What kills me is when people mispronounce it after I say it for them.
Them: Whats your name?
Me: Ranando
Them: Orlando? (or Rolando or Randal or some other sh*t that I didn't just say)
Me: No, Ruh-Nan-Do *Thinking WTF, I JUST said it for you!*
Maybe I just have no patience

Now that I think of it, in the New Testament, Candace was the name of an Ethiopian Queen. Maybe that's where Nubian Queen came from.

*RM pulls out office dictionary and looks up the word Nubian*
...lets see, nth, nu, nuance, nub, nubbin, nubble, nubby, Nubian!
1. a: a native or inhabitant of Nubia. b: a member of one of the group of Negroid tribes that formed a powerful empire between Egypt and Ethiopia from the 6th to the 14th century.
2: Any of several languages spoken in central and northern Sudan.
So yes, Nubia is/was, at least, semi-Ethiopian.
BTW, this also goes to show that referring to blacks as Nubian can be a bit of a misnomer, only blacks who lived/originated from this region can truly be referred to as Nubian.
And that's my lesson for today.

I just knew that once I started going through this thread there would be at least one woman with my name. I think I'm the first on here...scary thought. My name is forever & a day mispelled. People always think that I'm saying Randy. No matter how many times I say it or spell it they still spell it wrong or call me Bran Die...wtf... It's Brandie not Brandi, Brandy, Brandee, but BRANDIE...and yes I am particular about having my IE.
Then the jokes/songs/dumb comments come rolling in:
"Brandie is dandy, but liquor is quicker." -- I'm a bartender go figure!
"I really miss you, Braaaaannnnnnddddddyyyyyy" -- OK, nice song....BUT it was about a DOG!!!
"Brandy, you're a fine girl........" -- And how many times have I heard that 1!
"Brandie, do you have a sister named Gin?" -- NO COMMENT
"Do you sing like the singer Brandy?" -- NO COMMENT
"Oh wow, you're a bartender and your name is Brandie! How cute!" -- NO SHIT, I didn't know that! Thank you for enlightening me....I never knew that!
I STILL LOVE MY B-R-A-N-D-I-E!!!!
