Because if you keep the radio turned up while you are lost, you will be discombebopulated*

1. How do they get those lil slips of paper inside fortune cookies? Are they already inside when it's being fried?
2. Why are cars made to go to 140 mph or above when the speed limit is no more than 75 mph?
3. Why is it that you always realize you've locked your keys inside the car the second after you've closed the door?

Why can't the newspaper finish the story on the same page instead on 4 and 5 pages later?
By time I get to the end I forget what story I wanted to finish.
Why in textbooks when they refer to tables or figures they barely be on the same page?
I like to look at the figures when I am reading about them.

Why is there handicap parking at skating rinks?
(Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmm...)

* Why do people call you from a blocked phone number and when they get the Privacy Manager, not say anything when it asks who's calling? Like you're REALLY going to answer phone then!
* Why do guys ask you, "Can I be your friend?" after you've given them every excuse in the book for not being able to talk to them (i.e., "I got a man", "I don't give my number out", "I don't take numbers", "I'm a lesbian", etc, etc)? If I really wanted to be your friend, would I be spittin' excuses like that? Think about it!
Okay, I think that's it for now. (WHEW, glad I got that off my chest)

Here is my addition to unanswerable questions. This isn't a series of questions, rather a look at some common findings we deal with on a daily basis, that puzzle most everyone.
These views are from a comedian, George Carlin, and if you ponder for a second you will see how much sense this makes.
First topic: Freedom of Choice
Do we really have freedom of choice? Why does it seem that the really important things in life have limited choices and the not so important, many choices. For example:
only:
2 political parties
3 oil companies, soon to be 2
about 3 commubications companies
31 flavors of Ice cream
114 different kinds of cereal
Personal Stuff:
why is your sh@t STUFF and someone else's stuff SH@T?
"I need a place for my stuff"
"I wish he'd get his sh@t out of here
Ever walked into a room and forgot why you went in?
Are these words really necessary? think about these:
OXYMORONS:
mandatory options
mutual differences
nondairy creamer
open secret
resident alien
silent alarm
sports sedan
wireless cable
mercy killing
lethal assistance [Contra aid]
business ethics
friendly fire
death benefits
holy war
near miss
assistant supervisor
new tradition
original copy
uninvited guest
Unnecessary Words
There is a tendency these days to complicate speech by adding unnecessary words. The following phrases all contain at least one word too many.
emergency situation
fear factor
peace process
shower activity
free of charge
intensity level
surgical procedure
knowledge base
belief system
boarding process
forest setting
seating area
floatation device
beverage items
sting operation
hospital environment
prison setting
facial area
What do ya think people?

Why is there a sign in most McDonalds that says "Ask for a picture menu".
If you can't read, how are you going to read that sign?

Hello peoples,
I have to respond to this particularly because, there are people out there for many reasons who CANNOT read, who cannot SPEAK,etc. for whatever reason, disability, etc. IT IS A MEANS OF COMMUNICATION (picture cues)!
This is the type of thing that I have been teaching my students, who are physically and mentally challenged for the past 9 months (5 YEARS).
Many times we take things for granted or for a joke, because AT THIS PRESENT moment IT DOES NOT APPLY to us.
BE very careful, because we don't know what will happen to us in the NEXT MINUTE, HOUR, OR SECOND. You,too could have a TBI (traumatic brain injury) or some kind of incident, on your way home or whatever, which will MAKE you have to use those SAME PICTURE MENUS you are referring to.

Soror, how about these oxymorons:
Act Naturally
Found Missing
Advanced Basics
Small Crowd
New Classic
12 ounce pound cake
Taped Live
Legally Drunk
Clearly Misunderstood

I think what she is saying is that if a sign w/ words is posted advising those who cannot read (the sign) how will they know to ask for the picture menus. Its kinda like the Braille on the drive thru ATM because blind people do not drive. I did not read her post as making fun of illiterate or brain-damaged people but again pointing out the oxymoron (the point of the thread!).

From my standpoint, that's where I come in. Or the person HIRED to help that blind person or disabled person. WE, who are "able bodied" ASSIST them. They may not can read or drive, but we can to assist them.
How many of us have stood at the drive-thru ATM? I have. Why can't a blind person who was driven to that ATM by someone else use the braille on that particular ATM (drive-up)?
I see what you are saying, but for me, it's more than that!

AKA2D,
I took some time and actually thought of your reasoning, and am very sorry to offend anyone. Sometimes, we as 'normal' people want to jump on the bandwagon without thinking a situation thru. So to that, I say
"Charge it to head, and not to my heart"
