Football Announces Ticket Donation Plan for U.S. Military
UH Looking to Give Aloha Stadium a Strong Cougar Presence

Dec. 2, 2003

HOUSTON - For University of Houston football team fans who are unable to make the trip to Hawai'i, there is a great way to support the Cougars and help some United States military members.

The Cougars will make their first trip to a bowl since 1996 when they meet Hawai'i in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl at 7 p.m. (CST), on Thursday, Dec. 25, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

For only $50, fans who are unable to make the trip can purchase a bowl ticket and a commemorative red Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl t-shirt. Both the ticket and the t-shirt will then be donated to a member of the United States military stationed in Hawaii, giving Aloha Stadium a distinctive Cougar presence.

The donation will benefit both the U.S. military and the Cougar football team and will be counted towards fans' annual Cougar Pride contribution.

For more information on this ticket donation, please call the UH Ticket Office at 713-743-9444.

UH vs. UH!

There's NWIH I'm missing that game. Christmas Day last year at the Hawai`i Bowl was a blast. Especially when it was 80 degrees out and the East Coast was going through a crazy blizzard.

With my luck, I'll probably end up on national TV again (AGDLynn knows what I'm talking about) as we AGDs always do whenever ESPN comes into town. If anything we'll get Bobby the camera guy again to hook some sisters up.

What a wonderful idea for our U.S. Military. Great job to the Cougars for honoring our servicemen and women that way.

I'll hold up personalized GC username signs during the game if you want!

Go Cougars and Warriors! It's UH vs. UH!

I might be in Hawaii during that game.. Would be cool to go to.

Ya'll have a cool stadium up there. Too bad it hardly gets any use.

Guess there are other things to do in Hawaii than watch football?

LOL, you can get a brochure entitled "101 things to do when you're in Hawaii" on any street corner in Waikiki.

Aloha Stadium only seats 50,000 and is the site for all University of Hawaii home games, the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, and the Pro Bowl in February. In addition to that, it's also the football home of the 6 private schools on the island that have football teams. It was my "home field" as a high school cheerleader.

Once in a while there'll be MLB exhibition games and they play at Aloha Stadium too.

The two sideline and two endzone sections lie atop rollers that allow different configurations: Football, baseball, and concerts. Mariah Carey, The Rolling Stones, Ricky Martin, NSYNC, Janet Jackson (two times), Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and Whitney Houston were just some of the acts that performed there.

If you're in town, maybe we can hook up at the game and I'll even buy you a beer (because yes, we serve alcohol at OUR football games).

Thumbs up Yay Kevlar!

Kevlar that is really nice of you to do that. Not only are you supporting your school but the service person is away from home during the Holidays and now they have an opportunity to get together with other folks and have a good time.

OTW, doesn't look like I'll be over there this summer. Got a call today, looks like skiing in Winter Park, Colorado is the plan.
