Post NPHC Orgs Do you mind......?

Hey fellow Greeks,

Quick question for you...do you mind if members of other organizations post on your forum particularly about upcoming events?

I ask because one of my sorors posted an event on everyone's board and it was deleted. Now, as a common courtesy, if I delete something, I give an explanation as to why.

I would just like a little feedback on the issue because she meant absolutely no harm and just wanted to inform your members and forum participants of what's going on with her chapter.

ZetaAce is correct. Every other day I find messages that are posted to 5-10 different forums & sometimes find messages that are posted to several dozen forums. For the messages that are greek related, I usually delete all but one - for the events I leave the one post in the forum of the organization that is hosting the event (unless I do not know which org is hosting it).

My main reason for doing so is that we have limited disk space on the webserver. If every event is posted in many different forums, we will end up having a number of forums that are flooded with identical event postings with each taking up lots of disk space. If you're familiar with usenet newsgroups, in those groups crossposting like this is also considered to be spam.

In any case, there seems to be a lot of people who are interested in posting event information. How about we setup a new forum in the general forums area specifically for events? This way, the events would only need to be posted in the forum for the organization hosting the event & in the "Events" forum. I'll probably set this new forum up sometime tomorrow.

I think its a great idea also!
And Director, I'm glad you brought the topic up. I also posted an event on the NPHC orgs forum boards about 3 weeks ago. The next day they were all deleted. I didnt know if it was my fault, or if everyone had turned CAT on me! But I'm glad you explained John. I think an Events Forum would be great!

Thumbs up for the Events forum...great idea, John.

I'll be sure to let our forum participants know about it and to look for it soon.

Director- I don't mind, but I think I can explain why it was deleted.

I'm sure that John did the mass deletion, not the forum moderators. He did this because posting a message several times on different forums is considered spam. She may want to post it on this board (greeklife) instead! Hope that helps to shed some light.
