I have never lived in California.. or even "SO cal"... BUT I did grow up in SOUTH TEXAS (if you remember in geography class that's right next to the Mexico border too)

Growing up in S. TX doesn't make me have the kind of attitude that you seem to have for pretty much the same group of folks.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

It's one thing if people are crossing the border to do harm to people or to do things that could potentially do harm to people (like smuggle drugs for example) but it's quite another if they are just coming here to pick fruit or do things that no other American would want to do to support their family back home that they never even get to see. Would you like to go pick fruit for a living? My best guess is probably not.

Many people feel that the term you used is equivelant to the N word.

The town has 1.5 million people in it. So theres a lot of mexicans here. But apparently ya only get 'it' if youre in the Pacific Time Zone or something.

So the term you used is not a racial slur? You don't get a cookie for not using the N word, when you used another term that is just as derogatory.

another thing and that is because I am sick and tired of this bashing you dont know me and if you did i am the least racist person in the world! i dont use the N word because i have best friends who are black and i love and respect them and their families greatly ...... the term i used use was in poor taste......I also have friends who are hispanic and them too i love and respect. I guess i was following some of the poor choices some of you all use in other threads over the yrs.

Bottom line this has gotten out of hand, I have changed the word ( and yes it was in poor taste....i may have mis understood the word) ,but the fact is get over it i changed it and i admit it was in poor taste but i am the not the person who you all have painted me out to be in your nasty comments flug at me in the last two pages of the thread and in PM's. This is my last entry to this thread and i would hope some mod would close it because it has certainly gotten out of hand from some of you more vocal members

The fact is you used a term that's extremely offensive to a large number of people, and have been unapologetic about it. It's an offensive term and that's that, and nothing's going to change the fact that you used it and thought it was ok.

Following the poor choices others have made over the years? I've been on GC since 2001, and it hasn't made me any more likely to use derogatory terms in conversation. Maybe that's just me though.

Also - why should the thread be closed? Because people disagree with you? That's not out of hand. That's debate. If you offer an opinion, there are going to be people who disagree. That's life.

My momma always says "Never ruin a good apology with your big but" -- meaning, if you were wrong, say so - don't add a but to it... in this case, the but being that you were somehow led to use that word by our poor choices
