i just wanted to say that your zeta chapter of sigma alpha just got their very first house! they moved into the old pi kappa alpha house and i think it might aid them in getting more recruits. i want to say congrats to SA at LSU for working hard and wish them the best of luck! here's a link if you want to see a picture of the new house: http://www.lsusigmaalpha.org/index2ns.html
Thanks Moxie for the best wishes. The house needs alot of work but it's a really big step for our chapter. I'm an alum of the chapter but from what I hear...the girls are loving it so far!!!
Good Luck with your house. The alpha iota chapter also got one this year. Make sure you guys are at national convention to vote down the $500 a year fee to have a house! Make sure and keep us posted on how your house is doing!
What is the $500 fee for having a house about? I'm an alumni and I'm not familiar with what are the new bylaw proposal changes. Can anyone fill me in and why this might be a proposal?
I didn't say congratulations earlier. So congratulations! I lived in our house at Purdue for two years and really enjoyed it. There will be some challenges, but it is definitely worth it. You'll learn a lot about 'managing' a house and life skills that will definitely be beneficial when you get out here in the real world! Great job on what I'm sure was a lot of hard work to get.
The proposed bylaw change for a house fee is designed to address the additional paperwork that the NB has to read and take care of from chapters with houses, as well as the need to visit these chapters more frequently due to they increased liability they impose to the organization.
The dues as a sorority are quite low compared to other fraternal organizations, and it's unfair to impose the additional costs associated with those chapters with houses on all members (whether they're chapters have a house or not).
The house is coming along nicely. Still much work to do though. The girls are really enjoying it and I see them getting closer every day. Next time you're in Baton Rouge, stop by for a visit.
