Only way I know how to lose weight is to disicipline yourself. For example I worked out 2hrs a day 5 days a week. One hour during my lunch time and another hour after work. I also added aerobic classes into it as well. That cover the additional hour after work. Oh yeah, don't forget not to deprived your body of eating what you enjoy. That is a big NO NO. Good luck!!!

::sigh::
Does anyone have any good tips of things that they have done that really work?
I've cut out soda, I try not to eat out, I've been doing 30 mins of cardio if not more a day everyday (I'm on day 10) and some strength training. But I don't feel any better.

This is very true. No magic tips, really. Just watch your portion sizes and eat healthy. Moderation is the key. Keep at it; you'll feel better in the long run. When you eat out, make healthy choices. Unless you plan to not drink pop or eat out for the rest of your life, the weight loss will only be temporary. Even if you cut back (which is good), treat yourself sometimes so you won't feel deprived.
I was standing on the bus today and a lady made room for me to sit down. As I squeezed into the seat she said, "You're small enough; I wish I was that small." She made my day. I've been feeling fat lately. And for good reason.

Please read my previous message. It works..I lost 15 pounds in a month and a half. Not to mention you are only on day TEN. Girl you have a long way to go. It takes 3 months to get in shape and 3 days to get out of shape.

Thank you IvyBeauty, BrownSuga and Ideal. It gets very discouraging when you know you are trying very hard but you don't feel anything changing. I have cut out soda so that I am not so dependent on it anymore. I will add it back in eventually though. I have been trying to cut my portions so that I need less food to be full. I know it will take awhile but that's the part of the challenge that I will eventually grow to accept. I am going to continue to work out 5-6 days a week so that I at least have a break!
:-) I feel better now. Reading this thread is giving me motivation.

Dear lillady85,
I have been life changing for the last two months "not dieting" diets are usually only temporary....But one of my main successes is setting daily goals such: adding a glass of water into one of my meals, drinking a glass of juice when I REALLY want a soda, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and I have actually been doing a boot legged Weight Watchers. One of my use to be coworkers mother is a coordinator so she gave us all the info so I count the points but I don't per say LIVE by them. To the date I have shed 15 pounds. I wish you the best of luck and remember anything is possible through prayer

Anyway, the guy on the commercials that lost all the weight said he always ate a sandwich with just vegetables for lunch and turkey for dinner... I'll never be a vegetarian, and ham kicks turkey anyday. Just curious to know if anybody's doing it.

Now you know that he ate only vegetable sandwiches and turkey sandwiches. No cheese or mayo. I read about it a few months ago since Subway has been airing those new commercials about people losing weight. Of course those people have probably increased their exercise as well.
I've found out for myself that I lose weight when I watch my calorie and fat intake, excersice a lot, and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I'm telling you the water thing works. You'd be surprised. It flushes your system constantly if you do so. I try not to eat more than 1500 calories a day Monday through Friday. And on the weekend, I can eat some foods I enjoy (but not overindulge). I log in the amount of calories I eat everyday in an Excel spreadsheet. I find that actually seeing the total number every day makes me more aware of what I eat before I eat it. I excercise at least 30 minutes a day, five-six days a week. Now the 1500 calories pertains to me and my body and depends on how much you excercise.

I DONT HAVE AN WEIGHT PROBLEM BUT TO MAINTAIN MY WEIGHT I TAKE STAIRS WHEN I HAVE THE OPTION. I LIVE DOWNTOWN CHGO AND MAKE THE EFFORT TO WALK EVERYWHERE OR TO PARK MY CAR FAR FROM WHERE I AM GOING. NOW EATING THATS MY PROBLEM. SO I JUST TRYYYYYY TO BALANCE WHAT I EAT IF I EAT FRIED FOODS THEN I CUT BACK ON BREAD POTATOES AND DRINK TONS OF WATER( WATER IS YOUR FRIEND IT ALSO HELPS TO KEEP YOUR SKIN LOOKIN GOOD)BUT MY ONLY ADVICE WOULD BE TO BALANCE MEALS DONT EAT AFTER A CERTAIN TIME AND ALWAYS HAVE BREAKFAST AND SEVERAL HEALTHY SNACKS. THEY SAY THAT YOUR BIGGEST MEAL SHOULD BE AT LUNCH TIME. I HOPE THAT I HAVE HELPED SORRY IF I DIDNT.

My sister has been doing it since January. She has lost over 35lbs and that's with occasional cheating. I can't wait to see her when I am in NYC in two weeks.
I've lost a little over 20lbs since Janaury by just exercising and cutting down on my carb inatke. Lowering my carb intake has been hard because I am a carb addict. I just take it day by day. What else can you do?

I wanted to add to my previous post that I do the previously stated things for me as a way of life and not just to lose weight. I'm not overweight at all but I've been doing those things for quite some time and it has helped to maintain my current weight, which works for me !

Exercise, Exercise & more Exercise..
Consult a personal trainer and nutritionist...
Count those calories and stay off scales for a while......
Stay away from mayo -eggs and oil
Red meat-too much fat- eat fish, baked chicken breast
Get lots of protein-helps you build musles
Eat carbs-bread, pasta, etc- but not too much, they turn to fat if you don't burn them off...
Too much dairy products-high in fat content
No POP, drink water and more water... That 10% fruit juice is also not that good for you- too much sugar and mostly empty calories
Low fat snacks- granola bars, rice cakes
Fruits and vegetables.... A variety
Do not starve yourself- chance are you will regain the weight within a few months of eating again!

Earlier this year...I used these herbs called "Black Walnut" and another called "Cascade". I know this may sound gross and I won't get explicit. One is to cleanse the colon and one is to remove the parasites. You shouldn't eat much bread when you take them and take them for about a month. My aunt is the herb expert and she told me to try it. Actually, I don't know if it will make you regular b/c I'm already that but it will help to cleanse that area. Also colon cleansing may sound bad but is very beneficial due to the elevating risks of colon cancer.
Has anyone ever tried the cabbage soup diet or mayo clinic diet. I have tried the cabbage soup it doesn't taste bad but it is only a quick fix. A few weeks ago, I started my own workout program, Taebo, pushups, crunches, etc... and I cook now with olive oil and eat only chicken (that's for now). One thing that my brother told me the other day is to watch the sodium intake because it only makes you retain water which leads to a lot of excess water weight. That's all for now

To clean the colon you can also get a colonic where they flush the colon with a solution and pull out the "contents". You have to go more than once thought because the first treatment only cleanses the first, like 1/2 mile of colon.
I tried it when I decided to stop eating meat and let me tell you...IT'S THE $HIT
