Times change.
heh heh No Bristol for me, jsut checked it out, and its some reality show they are going to do to find next anchor. No thanks. lol

Yes, I agree, all that matters in the end is the W. But with the BCS and the screwy ways they weight things, the strength of the W seems to matter more than it ever did. Ohio State won on Saturday, but not as convincingly as USC or Michigan, and so Ohio State dropped in polls.

And, for anyone interested, here are the scores from USC's 11 game winning streak:

USC- Hawaii 61-32 (was 52-13 when we took our 1st string out)
USC- BYU 35-18
USC - Auburn 23-0
Last season:
USC - Iowa (orange bowl) 38-17
USC-Notre Dame 44-13
USC - UCLA 52-21 (was, I believe 52-7, when we took 1st sting out)
USC - Arizona State 34-13
USC - Stanford 49-17
USC - Oregon 44- 33
USC - Washington 41-21
USC - Cal 30-28

AhHa! I can see it now:

"SportsCenterSurvivors on FantasyFootball Island"

Who can pack the most cliches into a 20 second voice over while maintaining that smug, slightly superior ESPN facial expression.

Wonder if they need a director for that. I can speak sportstalk.

Thumbs up

ok ok, so, can i tell y'all how happy i was to turn on PTI today and see wilbon absolutely RIP texas? It was great. Apparantly the cry babies up in Austin are sooo upset about their loss to Ark. that they've imposed a media boycott. Oh, why? cuz you don't want to answer any more questions about Mack Brown not being able to win the big game? boohoo. I'm sure y'all will be more than willing to talk your smack after you dismantle poor Rice this weekend.....unless of course Rice can pull one out. Just wait until Thanksgiving, when Fran's got the Ags fired up and THAT becomes another Big one year in and year out.

pooooooooooooor nutless bovines.

In other news, the A&M-VT game is still scheduled to be played as of now. Hopefully hurricane izzy won't cause it to be postponed. While i'm pretty sure VT's gonna edge us out, i'd like to see how we do against them. I'd like to think our less than stellar numbers the past 2 weeks might have had something to do with lack of concentration and looking forward to this. This game will give us a measuring stick to see where our program is.

Although, if its raining cats and dogs, and the wind's blowing like a mexican whore, and we have to rely on running the ball, it's gonna be a long night. I thought our best chance was Reggie McNeal tossin bombs to T-Murph.

Kitso
KS 361 yards T-Murph is gonna have against the castrated turkeys, on Kick returns, punt returns, receptions, hand offs, hell just take the ball from center and RUN!!

I'd love to see A&M roll at VT. I just don't think it's going to happen. I think that

OU gets a visit from UCLA this weekend. The #117 (yes, that's out of 117 teams) offense in Division IA versus probably the best Defense. Shouldn't be too much of a game. UCLA's defense is good though so it shouldn't get too ugly for them.

I'm not nervous this weekend. That A&M/Hokie game could really go either way.

I'd feel a lot better about it if we had been able to steamroll Arkie State. Utah's lookin to be an OK mountain west team and i'm glad we got out of that one with a W.

We've had a week off before the short week to plan for this game, i hope Fran got some of the bugs outta the offense. Man, i'd love nothing better to go up there and kick them around on their turf, kinda like what they did to us last year.

KS 361 times the trip to Norman scares me more

OK, so I feel the need to defend my team, although there really isn't much to defend, and I'll inevitably get flamed and made fun of by the atm, ou, arkansas, and all the other Texas haters.

I was at the game on Saturday, and I'll honestly admit it, Arkansas deserved to win. Texas completely fell apart, and there were some horrible, ridiculous calls made by the Texas coaching staff. Heck, in my opinion the score should have been a lot more lopsided.

And yes, I did happen to see PTI this afternoon, and I was not yet aware of the media boycott. I have since talked to a friend on the team (no names, but he is a starter), and the media boycott was voted on by the players, Mack and the rest of the coaching staff had absolutely nothing to do with it. They did not impose the boycott because they are "crybabies that are upset about their loss", the poor guys just want some privacy!! The media has been harassing them on and off campus, and at practices all week. All these guys want to do is put last week's game behind them and concentrate on beating Rice, which is exactly what they should be doing in my opinion. Yeah, its no fun to talk about losing a game, especially in front of 80,000 fans at home, but they have had no problem talking about what they did wrong. But the media only wanted to talk about the loss, and the guys are ready to move on and be optimistic about the rest of the season. This is why they imposed the media boycott.

With regards to Mack Brown, he is a wonderful man, one of the best recruiters in the nation, and very humble. However, I can't deny that he doesn't perform so well in the big games. But he is a class act, and the players adore him because he cares more about their well-being than his win-loss record, and there aren't a lot of coaches in college football today that I could say that about.

To the aggies, good luck Thursday night against VT, I'll definitely be watching. ou, see you in a few weeks in Dallas, hope you're ready, we will be. And Arkansas, good luck with the rest of your season, you guys have potential...but your players might benefit from some lessons in manners and how to be grateful winners, the Texas fans, students, and administration, and the Austin community were NOT impressed with their rude, offensive behavior after the game.

THANK YOU, TEXAS KD!!

I have purposely not commented before now because I was just too mad. You couldn't have said it better, and I agree with you.

I guess it is too much to ask for people to support their team AND show good sportsmanship.

Ok.. couldn't resist...

[Flame Texas]

Texas Championship Trophy Case:

Recruiting National Champions 2000, 2001
Big 12 South "Co-Champions" 2002

_____

That being said, Mack is going to have to do something incredibly different if he wants to win the "big game". I won't be surprised if he loses to K-State AND Oklahoma this year, maybe one more loss on their schedule.

I'll be there for the OU-TX game on October 11th, will enjoy seeing OU go to 4-0 in the last 4 years . Mack and company year after year have accumulated impressive stats playing teams like Rice and New Mexico State University. They go into the Division thumping their chest about their great talent, having the #1 this and #2 that... Every single year their fans are let down. Well, every single year since your last championship in 1969.

The motto at Texas: "We do less with more."

I guess the cockiness of some of the UT players and fans rubbed off on some of us.

but regardless, I apologize for their actions, that's not something we're usually known for.

First of all,

I don't know of any other 'national contender' team that boycotts the media after a loss. K-State has a perinnal boycott against the media, but that's besides the point. You don't want to have to answer for your mistakes? that's crybabyish. I'm sure Miami wanted to implement a boycott after the national title game last year. I'm sure that OU did as well, after A&M upset them to ruin their shot at a MNC. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

And i KNOW, that someone whose school is NOTORIOUS for their poor sportmanship, riots after wins in lincoln, abuse of visiting fans to their home games(yes i have experienced this first hand), BOOING THEIR OWN PLAYERS, pooor aggies chant, ETC is NOT lecturing another school on their fans manners and behavior. I KNOW that's not happening. The only thing the Hogs could have done to top the sips is to pee on the state capital.....

Talk about the pot and the freakin' kettle. BTW, if you want to read about how true fans act, here's a link for ya....http://www.techsideline.com/fanvoice/2003/mm029.htm
