TBSG,
Please take a look (or second look) at the local and service sororities, as they appear to be a real force at Truman. NPC is not the be all and end all of sisterhood, as many women on this site can attest.

I agree 110%. If you want to be Greek, then you can still make it happen! Look into things like service, local, or professional sororities like mine (SAI). Or what about something like Beta Sigma Phi? And of course COBs.
Either way, I'm so sorry Rush didn't work out, but keep your options open. You can still be Greek!
And even if you DON'T end up greek, we all love ya.

Honey, I'm so sorry. Nothing makes me sadder than to hear news like this.
But people have made some good points! There is COB! I know some people who would not be very good in a Formal Recruitment environment and are much better in a COB environment. Many of my good friends joined through COB, it does not make anyone any less of a sister!

I'm so sorry to hear about your rush situation...No matter what you decide to do from COB, AI, or joining a service organization, I wish you all the best! You sound like an awesome person and I know that you would be an amazing asset to any organization.

I'm so sorry to hear that the phone call was bad news....everyone else who have already posted have given you so much good advice and support. We're all here to support you in whatever you do....wrap your arms around yourself (it's a hug coming from me!)
edited because I still have problems using "here" and "hear"

Coming from Truman, I totally agree with 33girl!! There are tons of great organizations, not just NPC!! I was also a member of a professional fraternity for my major and I had just as much fun with them as I did with Sigma Kappa. I also knew many people who were members of APO and ASG who absolutely loved being a part of them. There is something out there for you sweetie so keep your head up!!!

I'm not sure about your whole situation but you can always try Alumna Initiation (some GLOs what you to have college yrs and some don't). Like the others have mentioned, there is nothing wrong about joining a local GLO.

well congrats to them, and Im so sorry to hear about what happened. At least you kept your chin up the whole time, that can be a hard thing to do. I would feel out your other options like COB or like others have said a local sorority. If you want to of course. I'm sorry that things didnt work out, sometimes people just dont see what theyre really missing out on. Best of Luck to you and let us know if you decide to do anything else.

I am so sorry that Rush for you didn't have a happier ending. I have been following your story all along b/c my husband was an AKL there and one of my sorority sisters transferred there, but she had no Tri-Delts to affiliate with. I think you should DEFINITELY consider COB if they have it. If being greek, is important to you, then you owe it to yourself to see which houses will be participating. Your sorority search isn't over yet!
The more and more I am hearing at how rush has been going this fall, the more I am convinced that something is just not right. I was told that at my alma mater, girls were getting cut from almost every house after the first nite!
Best wishes to you, keep your chin up.

I feel you
I checked out COB...a lot different than formal recruitment, but if you dont feel that its for you, totally understandable, check out the "best kept secret" sororities on campus that may not necessarily be social (locals, or like the one I'm joining SAI!!) If you wanna swap stories and talk feel free to contact me. Best of luck to you, girl

I'm really alright with how things turned out. They didn't want me, it's ok, being through recruitment three times, I realllly was not expecting the best because of the trend I was having with invites.
As for COB on this campus, from what I understand you have to be invited to a COB event/bid. They don't advertise parties but if you have a lot of friends and they ask you, it seems like you're in. But, it doesn't happen here often.
I'm happy and doing just fine!

and THAT is what matters!!! there is more to college and life than being greek - you still have your friends and can still have a great time, and you're obviously a strong girl and not a quitter! both very admirable qualities, i might add.
