The first thing I did was crack a smile. I mean, big GOOFY grin. I didn't cry, which is surprising. Very surprising. Then, I called my Soror Cousin who showed a little 9 year old "THE LIGHT". Then, I called my Soror Best Friend and gave her a crazy sounding Skeeee-weeeeee. LOL
Where have you been miss missy!!!

I cried like a newborn baby! Then I opened up all my gifts and fell asleep wearing all my nalia, like a little kid on Christmas! The work began immediately the following week with our first fund-raiser to benefit a residential center for terminally ill children.

Its hard for me to talk about what I did...

because i get emotional...I remember thinking i'll never make anyone who had anything to do with my admission into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated regret their decision. I remember feeling like there was a weight on my shoulders...the kind of weight that you feel when your mom tells you that when you walk out of the house you're not just representing yourself but your family. So the first thing I did was thank God, prayed to stay on the path He'd carved out for my life, and yes like so many other Sorors I cried.

first thing i did as an AKA

Besides doing all the chants, stances, taking loads of pictures, and saying the call in my sleep...I did several programs and community service events. Most importantly.....I attended the South Atlantic Regional Conference in Atlanta, GA.

The first thing I did as an AKA was call my mother (she was unable to attend my ceremony), then I called my best friend, then I took pictures. After the luncheon, I went to sleep and slept for a day and a half.

ttt

And I just realized that I never answered this.

Hugged my grannie, who was there. Hugged a bunch of my lss (and there were a lot of us.) Took lots of pictures. Helped my #15 with a minor crisis (lol), and then celebrated with family and friends. Finally, slept. I could not believe how exhausted I was.

Ha. I had to wait. I did not have a digital camera at the time, so I had to wait until the pics got developed.

I would like to answer this one also.....I hugged my family members and close friends of the family who were all Sorors. I wasn't crying yet, but I couldn't hold back while we were singing the hymn and the tears began to flow. Then, I was overwhealmed with excitement and that excitement still has not left me.
