hey

Hey!! I think that once people know how great our mission is and what we stand for will help out. At NCSU, i know we started out doing a lot with NPHC orgs but now more than ever we are interacting more and more with ALL greek orgs as a whole. It helps if you know someone in one of the other orgs cause that can help to get your foot in the door. I was good friends with some Phi Delts on campus and we would always get invited to their parties, etc. Now just about everyone in our chapter luvs to hang out with them. We participated in Greek Week this year and it helped but we still have a ways to go BUT do the best you can and don't GIVE UP!!!

We were treated as a regular student organization in the beginning because T.M. was giving us the Univ. of Pittsburgh run around. ...
Trust me, we reached out to NPC and IFC and some of the reactions have been downright cold, because as you said before "People, in general, don't always take well to change."
I'm sure that the lack of a greek advisor hasn't helped you guys. I think also there's confusion because we've never had a multicultural sorority so it's not known how it should be handled. We have NPC, IFC, and NPHC groups. Each have their own governing bodies, there's already a system set up for them. Not just on the campus, but also nationally, they all fall under umbrella groups. Multicultural organizations don't have that.
Ever since Joe Cavalla left, I have not been pleased with the way that office has been run. Sharon leaving didn't help either, and the way they dragged their feet in hiring a new person hasn't helped either.
Out of curiousity, what specifically have you done to reach out to NPC and IFC organizations?
What is your "vision" of what you want your organization to be? What is your "big picture" goal? What else do you want to accomplish along the way? What do you see as the steps to getting there?
What is TNX's game plan?
If you have specific goals in sight and plans of the steps you need to take to get there, you will succeed.

Well I personally have not had that much time to reach out to other greek orgs. since I became a sister this spring. . .after all of the programs were finalized and none of the new sisters had a clue how to reach out. But, some of my sisters had a negative reaction when they first came on campus. . .maybe they came on too strong and some of the IFC and NPC Greeks weren't feeling it. . . .I really don't know. But since I'm PR and Social chair I'm not worried about what was done in the past and who didn't talk to whom. . .I am looking forward to the future. I'm going to take up any offers to have events and I (and the Vice President) will make plenty on behalf of the Nu colony.

Besides having the sorority thrive on PITT's campus, another major goal is to have a Multicultural Greek Council. Because we actually are an umbrella group. . .many don't know this but there is a National Multicultural Greek Council, but like many new councils it needs time to expand. In the future it will come to PITT's campus.

The only vision all of my sisters and I share is the one that the founders started on April 11th 1997. Which is that we are "to promote leadership, multiculturalism, and self-improvement through academic excellence, involvement in and service to the campus and community, as well as being living examples of sisterhood across different races, cultures, religions, backgrounds, and lifestyles." I love our mission statement. . .it needs no other words to explain it.

When it comes to PITT's campus, we really do have love for ALL greeks. But NPHC reached out to us even before my sisters started to reach out to any other Greek orgs. . .and you can't forget the first people who embraced you.

We are a not a regular cultural organization, we are a Multicultural sorority first. So we hold ourselves to the same rules and bylaws that most do. We practice Robert's Rules. We pay dues. So we expect to be treated as a sorority.

Much Greek luv to ya!!!
