This is certainly by no means sufficient considering most of the new cases of HIV infection is the young, Black female population.
Thanks ladylike. It's like we are still unable to talk about this subject. Its like it is taboo in our community still.

Did anyone watch the movie on BET last night? I thought it was interesting but I wish they would have expanded on somethings.

I saw the last ten minutes or so of it, but it's coming on again on Sunday and I'll be watching it in its entirety!!!

Kudos to Soror Alicia on her work ... and kudos to ALL of our Sorors worldwide who have been working tirelessly to eradicate the effects of AIDS/HIV in our communities and to educate.

I am not sure if this is true or not, I was once told that someone found a cure for aids. unfortunately the cure was not accepted by other scientists and rejected in entirety because it was found that the cure only worked on minorities. particularily african-americans.

No sweetheart, they have not found any "cure" for HIV. Neither will they ever find one. Big Pharma is still pissed off Polio was cured...

Some people of African descent have been exposed to HIV on numerous occasions but have never tested positive for HIV. These folks are prostitutes. It was found that some protein on their immune system cells somehow "rebuffs" HIV... Studies are aggressively seeking how to elucidate that system. I haven't looked to see how the progression is going. However, since Big Pharma is making tons of money on their anti-viral HAARTs then I doubt will ever see anything to come out of that research...

You are actually correct but actually it wasn't a cure but a vaccine for HIV that was said to only work for minorities. The problem, amongst many, in the study, was that only a handful of minorities were even enrolled in the clinical trials making the generalizability of their results questionable.

Also, what Sistergreek AKA_Monet stated is true. There is too much money tied up in HIV for pharmaceutical companies, scientists, researchers to ever admit to, let alone, market a "cure." Hell, it pays my salary, not to mention for my education
